It was the Wildcats’ ninth consecutive win in a conference opener (2012-20). » Villanova senior guard Collin Gillespie was named to the Midseason Top 10 Watch List for the Bob Cousy Award in January. The product of Archbishop Wood High School established a new career high with 11 assists in Saturday’s 80-72 victory at Seton Hall. As the Wildcats’ primary distributor, Gillespie leads the BIG EAST in assist-to-turnover ratio with 56 helpers and just 12 turnovers (4.7 ratio). For good measure he averages 14.6 points and 4.7 assists per outing. » Villanova has been a constant in the Top 10 of both major polls this season. The Wildcats are ranked third in this week’s Associated Press and USA Today Coaches polls. Since the start of the 2013-14 regular season, Villanova has been ranked in the AP Top 25 for 132 of the last 140 weeks, including the last 29 in a row. » Sophomore Jeremiah Robinson-Earl is this week’s Philadelphia Big Five Player of the Week after dropping in 23 points on 8-of- 12 shooting in Saturday’s win at Seton Hall. The native of Kansas City, Kan., was also named to the BIG EAST weekly Honor Roll. » The BIG EAST announced two changes to the Wildcats’ February scheduled. The Feb. 9 contest vs. DePaul has been postponed. Villanova will host Marquette instead on Feb. 10 at 9 p.m. » Senior Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree recently underwent surgery to address a tibial stress fracture in his left leg. He has not yet seen game action in 2020-21 due to the injury, will be sidelined from basketball activities for an undetermined length of time as he recovers. Cosby-Roundtree previously underwent surgery on his right shin in April 2020 to remove hardware related to an earlier procedure on the same leg. In three seasons at Villanova, Cosby-Roundtree has appeared in 105 games, earning 17 starting assignments.
