< PreviousR yan Wallace was named the tight ends coach at Louisville in December 2022. Before joining the Louisville staff, Wal- lace spent six seasons on the Purdue staff, working the 2022 season as the tight ends coach and assisting the offensive line. He was hired at Purdue in 2017 and spent his first two years as offensive/special teams quality control. During the 2021 campaign, he was an offensive and special teams assistant for the Boilermakers. The 2022 season saw Wallace mentor Payne Durham at the tight end position, who earned second team All-BIG Ten accolades after catch- ing 56 passes for 560 yards and eight touch- downs. Durham finished his career second on Purdue’s all-time receiving list for touchdowns with 21 and sixth with 1,265 receiving yards. Senior Brycen Hopkins highlighted the tight end position for Wallace in 2019, being named the Kwalick-Clark Big Ten Tight End of the Year, a First Team All-Big Ten selection and Second Team All-America by USA Today. Hopkins finished second on the team with 61 receptions for 830 yards and seven touchdowns on the year. Hopkins’ reception and yardage total were the most by a Boilermaker tight end since Dustin Keller had 68 receptions for 881 yards in 2007. Redshirt fresh- man Payne Durham caught four touchdowns on his nine total receptions for the year. Before joining the Purdue coaching staff, Wallace spent the 2016 season as tight ends coach at Austin Peay. The Governors finished third in the Ohio Valley Conference in rush- ing and broke the school game record for total offense multiple times. According to 24/7 Sports, Austin Peay signed the No.1 recruiting class in FCS with Wallace on staff. Prior to his stint at Austin Peay, Wallace spent three seasons as a graduate assistant at Western Kentucky, where he worked directly with the tight ends on Brohm’s staff in 2014 and 2015 and with the offensive line in 2013. In 2015, the Hilltoppers won the Conference USA Championship Game and Miami Beach Bowl and finished 24th in the final Associated Press poll. Western Kentucky finished that sea- son first in the nation in passing touchdowns, fifth in passing yards and scoring offense, and eighth in total offense. The season prior, the Hilltoppers broke 47 offensive school records, finished first in the country in passing touch- downs, second in passing yards, fourth in total offense and sixth in scoring offense. Tight ends Mitchell Henry and Tyler Higbee earned all-conference honors in 2014 under Wallace’s guide, with Higbee going on to be selected in the fourth round of the NFL Draft by the St. Louis Rams in 2015. Wallace played two seasons of tight end at Western Kentucky (2011-12) and one year as an offensive tackle at Kentucky (2010). He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science (2013) and a master’s degree in sports administration (2015), both from Western Kentucky. His father, Kevin, is a longtime high school head football coach in Kentucky with more than 300 wins and six state championships. Wallace will reside in Louisville with his wife, Samantha. A former wide receiver for the Cardinals, Brohm will oversee day-to-day operations and handle all general manager duties for the program, including staff oversight, operational planning, external affairs, roster management, self-scout, game management, and stra- tegic decision-making. Brohm returns to his alma mater after serving six seasons as ex- ecutive director of football administration and operations/chief of staff at Purdue, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the football program and serving as a special assistant and advisor to the head football coach. A veteran director of operations, Brohm previously served as di- rector of football operations at Western Kentucky during the 2014- 16 season, when the Hilltoppers compiled a 30-10 overall record and won two consecutive C-USA titles. Before joining the Western Kentucky staff, Brohm was a teacher and head football coach at Thomas Nelson High School in Bard- stown, Kentucky, from 2012 to 2014. He started the football pro- gram at the newly opened school. Working at his alma mater, Brohm served as the director of foot- ball operations at Louisville from 2004-08. In that capacity, he was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the program while as- sisting in developing academic procedures and coordinating all player development. He organized travel, camps and coordinated bowl preparations for the 2004 Liberty Bowl, 2005 Gator Bowl and 2007 Orange Bowl. In addition, Brohm maintained all NCAA documentation for the program. In three seasons under head coach Bobby Petrino, the Cardinals won a Conference USA and Big East championship and twice finished in the Associated Press Top 10. Prior to Louisville, Brohm served as the president and offensive coordinator for the Louisville Fire of the Arena2 Football League. He was responsible for football operations, corporate sales and market- ing, staff and player personnel, and called the plays for the offense. As a player, Brohm was a four-year letterwinner and a three-year starter at Louisville from 1988 to 1992. He was the starting wide receiver during the Cardinals’ 1991 appearance in the Fiesta Bowl, catching passes from his brother, Jeff. A member of the Dean’s List, Brohm graduated from Louisville in 1993 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and ac- counting. He earned a master’s degree in teaching from Louisville in 2014. A three-sport athlete (football, basketball and baseball) at Louis- ville Trinity High School, Brohm earned first-team all-state honors as a wide receiver in 1987. He was inducted into the Trinity High School Hall of Fame in 2006 and served on the board of directors for the Trinity alumni board from 2000 to 2003. The former three-sport star was recently named as one of the 2023 inductees into the KHSAA Hall of Fame. Domenic Reno Head Strength and Conditioning Coach Reno, who spent three seasons as the di- rector of football strength and conditioning at Purdue, will lead the UofL Football Strength and Conditioning program. Besides the three seasons leading the Pur- due strength and conditioning efforts, Reno spent three other seasons serving as the senior associate director of football strength and conditioning upon his hiring on Jan. 3, 2017. He has been a member of Brohm’s staff since 2014. Reno was named the 2017 National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year. The award considers all assistant coaches working across the country in collegiate athletics. Reno has helped seven NFL Draft picks prepare for the next level: Brycen Hopkins (2020 - Los Angeles Rams), Markus Bailey (2020 - Cincinnati Bengals), Rondale Moore (2021 - Arizona Cardi- nals), Derrick Barnes (2021 - Detroit Lions), George Karlaftis (2022 - Kansas City Chiefs), David Bell (2022 - Cleveland Browns) and Zander Horvath (2022 - Los Angeles Chargers). Karlaftis and Hopkins were Super Bowl Champions in 2023 and 2022, respectively. Ja’Whaun Bentley also won a Super Bowl with the New England Patriots. Reno joined the Boilermakers after three seasons (2014-16) at Western Kentucky as the associate director for football strength and conditioning and the head strength and conditioning coach for track and field. He was instrumental in guiding the Hilltoppers football program to a pair of Conference USA championships (2015 and 2016). Western Kentucky also won the 2014 Bahamas Bowl, 2015 Miami Beach Bowl and 2016 Boca Raton Bowl. The Hilltop- pers went 31-10 with Reno on staff. Tight end Tyler Higbee went on to be drafted by the Los Angeles Rams and won a title in 2022. Western Kentucky won the 2016 men’s indoor and outdoor Conference USA championships, 2015 men’s indoor conference title and 2015 women’s outdoor conference title. The Hilltoppers boasted eight All-Americans at the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Champi- onships, including Emmanuel Dasor, who qualified for the 2016 Olympics in the 200-meter dash, four All-Americans at the 2016 NCAA Indoor Championships, eight at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Championships and four at the 2015 NCAA Indoor Championships. Prior to Western Kentucky, Reno spent three seasons (2011-13) with the New York Giants in the National Football League as assistant strength and conditioning coach. The Giants won Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis. He worked and trained eight Pro Bowlers while with the Giants, including Victor Cruz, Zack Deossie, Eli Manning, Jason Pierre-Paul, Antrel Rolle, Chris Snee, Justin Tuck and Osi Umenyiora. Reno worked for six years (2004-10) at Wagner College, where he established the first-ever strength and conditioning program, developing year-round individualized programs for all 22 varsity teams. During his time at Wagner, he also worked for a trio of Minor League Baseball teams. Serving as the head strength and condition- ing coach, he spent time with affiliates of the Toronto Blue Jays, San Diego Padres and New York Yankees. Reno got his start on the collegiate level as a strength and condi- tioning coach at Boston College (2003-04). Reno graduated from Worcester State in 2002 with a bachelor’s de- gree in health education and earned his MBA from Wagner in 2015. He is CSCS, RSCC*D, ISSA, FMS, USAW, PES, USATF and NASE certified. Most recently, Long served as the offensive coor- dinator at Georgia Tech during the 2022 season after spending the 2021 season in the same role at Tulane. Long notably served as the offensive coordinator at Notre Dame from 2017-20, helping guide the team to a College Football Playoff berth in 2019. He was also a Broyles Award finalist for the nation’s top assistant coach after taking the offense to new heights during his time in South Bend. The Fighting Irish saw two top-25 finishes in scoring offense nationally un- der Long’s tutelage, while also ranking seventh nationally in rushing and setting school records in rushing yards and yards per carry during the 2017 season. Prior to working at Notre Dame, Long was the offensive coordinator at Memphis during the 2016 season which saw the Tigers finish as one of six FBS teams to rank in the top 20 nationally in passing offense, scoring offense, completion percentage, passing efficiency, and first downs gained. He began his coaching career with stops at Arizona State and Illinois over a six-year span after serving in graduate assistant roles at Arkansas and Louisville from 2006-09. Long earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of North Alabama in 2010 after playing wide receiver and tight end for the Lions from 2002-05. Adam Mueller Quality Control Specialist Adam Mueller has been tabbed as a quality control coach at Louisville for the 2023 season after serving as a defensive graduate assistant at Purdue University under head coach Jeff Brohm for two seasons. Before his stop in West Lafayette, Mueller was the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Lake Erie College in Paines- ville, Ohio from 2019-21. During his first season at the helm of the de- fense, the Storm saw notable improvements in all major categories while finishing first in the GMAC in pass yards allowed per game and 11th na- tionally in red zone defense. Mueller also served as the defensive line coach and director of football operations at Morehead State for the 2018 season after working as the as- sistant defensive line coach at Morehead during the 2015 season. Between stints with the Eagles, Mueller was a defensive graduate as- sistant at Boston College from 2016-18, helping guide their defense to a stellar 2016 season in which they finished ninth nationally in total defense and second in total sacks. Mueller earned a master of science in education from Purdue in the spring of 2023 after also earning a master of science in leadership and ad- ministration from Boston College in 2019. He earned his bachelor’s degree in history and communications at the University of Connecticut in 2014, where he was also a three-year letter-winner on the Huskies’ football team. Brian Reader Quality Control Specialist Brian Reader has been named as a quality control coach after an illustri- ous playing and coaching career at the University of Idaho. Prior to coming to Louisville, Reader most recently served as the run- ning backs coach and recruiting coordinator for the 2022 season at the University of Northern Colorado. Before moving to Greeley, he served in a variety of roles at Idaho from 2016-21 after working his way up from a graduate assistant position to the offensive coordinator job in his final season with the Vandals. Reader also played quarterback in the Arena Football league from 2013- 15 after playing the position at Idaho for three seasons. He also played at Arkansas and Monterey Peninsula College. He holds two degrees from his time at Idaho, earning a master of sci- ence in adult organizational learning and leadership in 2017 and a bach- elor’s degree in general studies in 2010. Brandon Sharp Quality Control Specialist Brandon Sharp returns to Louisville as a quality control coach after playing defensive back for the Car- dinals’ football program from 2003-07. Sharp most recently worked at Purdue University under head coach Jeff Brohm during the 2022 season as a senior quality control analyst. Prior to his stint with the Boilermakers, he coached at Florida A&M University from 2018-2022, working primarily with safeties while serving as the team’s passing game coordinator, positions he also held at Prairie View A&M University from 2015-17. Sharp began his collegiate coaching career with stops at Henderson State University and UAB after working as a defensive graduate assistant at Arkansas from 2009-12. He also played on the Chicago Bears’ practice squad during the 2007 season after going through the preseason with the Tennessee Titans. A safety for the Cards, Sharp was a four-year letterwinner (2003-06), guiding his team to an Orange Bowl win to cap off the 2006 season. Sharp earned a bachelor’s degree in sport administration from UofL in 2007. Mark Sander Quality Control Specialist Mark Sander was hired as a quality control specialist in 2023. A long-time high school head coach in Louisville, Sander spent 20 years serving as a head coach at Bul- litt East, Iroquois and DeSales High. Sander guided DeSales to a state runner-up finish in 2009 and two appearances in the state semifinals in 2005 and 2007. For his team’s accomplishments, Sander was named the Republic Bank All-Jefferson County Coach of the Year in 2005. As a player, Sander played four seasons (1987-90) as a defensive back at Louisville under Howard Schnellenberger, where he still stands as the school’s all-time leader in tackles. He was selected team MVP his sopho- more and senior season and named the team’s most outstanding defensive back as a junior. A first-team All-South Independent his final three seasons, Sander also was an AP All-America honorable mention as a sophomore and junior. A captain of Fiesta Bowl champion team, Sander led Louisville with 116 tackles in 1990. Professionally, Sander was member of the Miami Dolphins from 1991 to 1993 and was on the team that won the AFC East in 1992. Dale Williams Quality Control Specialist Dale Williams comes to the Ville as a senior qual- ity control coach while boasting 25 years of coaching experience after serving as the offensive line coach at Purdue University under UofL head coach Jeff Brohm from 2017-22. During his time in West Lafayette, Williams helped the Boilermakers to two bowl victories and the 2022 Big Ten West championship. He also coached the offensive line under Brohm at Western Kentucky during the 2016 season that saw the Hilltoppers win both the Conference USA championship and the Boca Raton Bowl while boasting the top scor- ing offense in the nation at 45.5 points per game. Williams has also coached at the high school level, spending two years at Lake Worth High School from 2012-14 after beginning his collegiate coaching career with stops at Florida Atlantic, Findlay, Gardner Webb, and North Greenville College from 1996-2011.
