Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center“I took him to the doctor and they were like, ‘Oh, it’s just a regular cold.’ But the next day he couldn’t walk.” That’s when Coach Kyra Elzy rushed her two-year-old son, Jackson Lander, to the Makenna David Pediatric Emergency Center at Kentucky Children’s Hospital. Emergency surgery revealed that Jackson had septic arthritis of the hip—bacteria from his cold got into his bloodstream and caused an infectious and inflammatory response in his hip. Jackson was hospitalized for nine days, during which he recovered from surgery and received an intensive course of antibiotics. He started feeling better within days, but stayed on his antibiotics for nearly a month to ensure his body was clear of infection. Two years later, he shows no lasting effects from his ordeal, and is back to his healthy, bouncy and active self. Jackson is proof of The Power of Advanced Medicine.
