UK dominated the Gamecocks in bench points (36-4) and points in the paint (44-26) to stop a two-game skid and get back to .500 in SEC play. The Wildcats overcame a slow offensive start and finished the first half on a 12-1 run to bring a 33-19 advantage to the break. UK upped its offensive production in half number two, shooting 56.7 percent from the field over the final 20 minutes to seal away what was the team's largest margin of victory in an SEC game this season. Some additional notes from the game: • Kentucky limited South Carolina to 57 points and 32.8 percent shooting, the Wild- cats' best defensive marks this season in an SEC game • Koby Brea had a career-high six assists in the game and also tallied 10 points • Point guard Lamont Butler returned to ac- tion after a threegame absence, scoring eight points and adding three assists in 23 minutes • South Carolina's 19 points and 23.5 shooting percentage in the first half were UK's best defensive marks for one half this season • UK posted its best free-throw perfor- mance of the season (12-13, 92.3%) • Kentucky led by as many as 26 points in the win Last Time vs. the Vols Tennessee will mark the first repeat oppo- nent for Kentucky this season. The Cats won the first meeting on Jan. 28 by a score of 78-73 in Knoxville. The outside shooting from Koby Brea and Jaxson Robinson led the Wildcats on that day. Brea finished with 18 points on 3 of 3 from 3-point range, while Robinson made four 3s and scored 17 points. Ansley Almonor also connected on four triples on his way to 12 points. Amari Williams had a double-double with 10 points and a season-high 15 rebounds to go along with a team-high four assists. Point guard Lamont Butler missed the game with an injury, while Andrew Carr was limited to just two minutes. Kentucky was 12- 24 from deep on the day, one of three games this season shooting 50 percent or better from beyond the arc. Tennessee was led by Igor Milicic Jr., who scored 19 points and had nine rebounds to lead the Vols in both categories. Tennessee at- tempted 45 3-pointers in the game, the most by an opposing team in Kentucky history. Balanced Attack The Wildcats are 16-7 in large part thanks to their veteran experience. But it has been the balance of attack, both offensively and defensively that has aided UK's season. • Kentucky has had six dif- ferent leading scorers through 23 games (Oweh - 8, Brea - 5, Carr - 4, Robinson - 4, Butler - 2, Williams - 1) • Six players are averaging double-figure points through 23 games. No UK team has ever fin- ished the season with six players averaging double-figure points • Kentucky is one of two teams in the country with six players averaging 10 or more points per game Three Wildcats on Mid- season Watch Lists Three Wildcats, Lamont But- ler, Otega Oweh and Jaxson Robinson are on various mid- season watch lists following stellar starts to the season. Butler and Oweh are both on the USBWA Oscar Robert- son Trophy Midseason Watch List. Butler is also on the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Top 15 list, while he was also picked as a midseason second-team All-American by The Sporting News. Robinson was selected to the top 10 mid- season list of the Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year list. Butler has proven to be one of UK's most important players this season. He was the USBWA National Player of the Week after pouring in 33 points in the win over Louis- ville. Defensively, he is leading the team with 1.7 steals per game. UK is 13-5 with him on the court and is yielding 74.7 points per game, a 41.2% field- goal clip and a 28.8% 3-point rate to its op- ponents. In the five games he has missed, UK is 3-2 and giving up 83.2 points per game, 45.9% from the field and 33.8% from 3-point range. Oweh is UK's leading scorer at 16.0 points per game. He has topped double figures in all 23 games and is the only player in the SEC to achieve the feat. Oweh is best after the break, logging a team-best 10.2 points per game after halftime. Robinson has been UK's steady leader during SEC action. He is posting 15.1 points per game and shooting 47.4% from distance against league foes. Amari Williams: Mr. Triple Double Kentucky center Amari Williams, who hails from Nottingham, England, etched his name in UK allure on Feb. 4 when he became just the fourth player in program history to register a triple-double. Williams accounted for 12 points, 11 re- bounds and a career-high 10 assists against Ole Miss. He is the only 7-footer in the last 20 years to have a points-rebounds-assists tri- ple-double and the tallest player in program history to turn the trick. Furthermore, Williams' 10 assists are the most ever by a 7-footer. Previously Sam Bow- ie (6) and Dakari Johnson (6) held the record. For the season, he is averaging 10.4 points and a team-high 9.0 rebounds per game. He has led the Cats in rebounding in 16 of 23 games and has snared 10 or more in 11 out- ings. Williams' seven double-doubles this sea- son ranks second in the SEC, behind only Auburn's Johni Broome. In league play, Wil- liams is boasting averages of 10.8 points, 9.6 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game, while shooting 65.0% from the field.Thank You to Our CORNERSTONE PARTNERSNEAround the SEC Around the Country 2024-25 SEC Standings and Statistics Team SEC Overall Home Road Auburn 9-1 21-2 0.913 10-1 Alabama 9-1 20-3 0.870 10-1 Florida 7-3 20-3 0.870 11-1 Texas A&M 7-3 18-5 0.783 10-1 Tennessee 7-4 20-4 0.833 13-1 Ole Miss 7-4 18-6 0.750 11-2 Missouri 6-4 17-6 0.739 15-1 Mississippi State 5-5 17-6 0.739 8-3 Vanderbilt 5-5 17-6 0.739 12-1 Kentucky 5-5 16-7 0.696 10-2 Georgia 4-7 16-8 0.667 13-2 Texas 4-7 15-9 0.625 10-4 Oklahoma 3-7 16-7 0.696 9-3 Arkansas 3-7 14-9 0.609 9-4 LSU 1-9 12-11 0.522 10-4 South Carolina 0-10 10-13 0.435 8-6 Scoring Player-Team ...................................................................PPG Johnson, Tre - Texas .....................................................19.05 Broome, Johni - AUB ...................................................18.14 Sears, Mark - UA ........................................................17.78 Lanier, Chaz - UT ........................................................17.67 Moore, Jalon - OK .......................................................17.65 Rebounding Player-Team ...................................................................RPG Broome, Johni - AUB ...................................................10.90 Williams, Amari - UK ....................................................8.96 Murray-Boyles, Collin - SC ............................................8.78 Nelson, Grant - UA .......................................................8.22 Kaluma, Arthur - Texas ...................................................8.13 Condon, Alex - UF ........................................................8.13 Assists Player-Team ...................................................................APG Zeigler, Zakai - UT ........................................................7.52 Fland, Boogie - ARK ......................................................5.72 Sears, Mark - UA ...........................................................5.00 Butler, Lamont - UK ......................................................4.67 Hoggard, A.J. - VU .........................................................4.64 Steals Player-Team ...................................................................SPG Matthews, Cameron - MISS ST .......................................2.57 Zeigler, Zakai - UT ........................................................2.09 Tanner, Tyler - VU .........................................................2.09 Pedulla, Sean - UM........................................................2.08 Murrell, Matthew - UM .................................................2.00 Blocks Player-Team ...................................................................BPG Broome, Johni - AUB .....................................................2.71 Okpara, Felix - UT ........................................................1.88 Ivisic, Zvonimir - ARK ....................................................1.86 Cyril, Somto - UGA .......................................................1.83 Shedrick, Kadin - Texas ..................................................1.71 2024-25 Associated Press Rankings As of February 10, 2025 (week 15) Record Points 1 21-21479 2 20-31470 3 20-31342 3 20-31342 5 20-41315 6 19-41235 7 19-51142 8 18-51065 9 21-31058 10 18-5880 11 19-4868 12 18-5778 13 17-6701 14 20-4676 15 16-7558 16 19-5488 17 16-7469 18 18-6442 19 18-6415 20 18-5350 21 17-6333 22 17-6292 23 19-5291 24 18-6198 25 Team Auburn (34) Alabama (23) Duke Florida (3) Tennessee (1) Houston Purdue Texas A&M St. John's Iowa State Michigan State Texas Tech Arizona Memphis Kentucky Wisconsin Kansas Marquette Ole Miss Michigan Missouri Mississippi State Clemson Creighton Maryland 18-6196 18 @KentuckyMBBWe’re your Shield.
