Game time is 7 p.m. and it will be televised on ESPN. Kellen Grady and Davion Mintz will be the honorees in the traditional pregame cer- emony. Grady is in his fifth year of college basketball and his only season at Kentucky, coming to Lexington as a graduate transfer from Davidson. Mintz is in his sixth year of college basketball. He played three years at Creighton, then graduated during a redshirt season (2019-20) with the Bluejays. Mintz has played two years at Kentucky. Both Grady and Mintz are able to play this season be- cause of the COVID exemption season of 2020-21 not counting as a year of eligibility. Ole Miss is led in scoring by a senior guard Jarkel Joiner (14.2 points per game) and sophomore guard Matthew Murrell (11.2 ppg). In the paint, graduate-transfer center Nysi- er Brooks averages 9.9 points per game and leads the team with 7.7 rebounds per game and 37 blocked shots. Kentucky leads the all-time series, 108- 14. Ole Miss won last season in Oxford, 70- 62, ending an 11-game UK winning streak in the series. UK leads 55-2 in games played in Lexington and has won the last 12 against the Rebels in Rupp Arena. Red-Hot Razorbacks Nip Wildcats in Fayetteville JD Notae had 30 points and eight assists, and No. 18 Arkansas topped No. 6 Kentucky 75-73 on Saturday in Bud Walton Arena in a matchup of teams peaking late in the season. Jaylin Williams added 16 points and 12 rebounds as Arkansas (23- 6, 12-4) helped create a tie with Kentucky (23-6, 12-4) and Tennes- see for second place in the South- eastern Conference standings with two games to play. The Razorbacks won for the 13th time in their last 14 games. Notae passed to Williams for a jump shot that lifted Arkansas to a 71-70 lead with 1:22 left. Williams and Davonte Davis each made two free throws to help the Razorbacks hold on down the stretch. Both teams remain in contention for the regular-season SEC title. Oscar Tshiebwe had 30 points and 18 re- bounds for the Wildcats, who lost for the only the second time in their last 10 games. Sah- vir Wheeler and Keion Brooks Jr. each scored 14 points. More Game Notes • It was Tshiebwe’s 23rd dou- ble-double of the season; also his 11th straight double-double, first Wildat to do that since Dan Issel had 12 consecutive in the 1969- 70 season • Sahvir Wheeler and TyTy Washington Jr. returned to action after missing the previous two games because of injury • Kentucky won the rebound- ing, 39-32; second-chance points, 13-7; points in the paint, 42-36; fast-break points, 16-9; and bench points, 24-7 Wildcats Seek Perfect Home Slate With a 17-0 record in Rupp Arena this season, a win over Ole Miss would give Kentucky an undefeated slate at home for 2021-22. It would be the 14th perfect home season in the 46-year his- tory of Rupp Arena and the sixth under Coach John Calipari. Calipari’s teams were spotless at home in their first three sea- sons, 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12, plus the 2014-15 and 2015-16 campaigns. UK enters the Ole Miss game with an all-time Rupp Arena record of 632-77, a winning rate of 89.1%. Under Calipari, the Wildcats are currently 215-17 (92.7%) in their home lair. SEC Tournament Seeding ... A Lot Still in Play With two games to play in the regular-sea- son, the Wildcats are still in contention for a seed anywhere between the No. 1 and No. 4. UK is guaranteed a coveted double-bye in the tournament with results of this week not pending. How exactly can UK earn the various seeds? One Seed: Kentucky must win both this week. Auburn most lose each of its last two games, and one of these two scenarios also needs to happen: Arkansas loses to LSU and beats Tennessee or Tennessee loses to Geor- gia and beats Arkansas. Two Seed: Kentucky must win both games this week. Auburn, Tennessee and Arkansas all go at least 1-1. Three Seed: UK wins both of its games this week. Either Arkansas or Tennessee is guaranteed to lose at least one game because they finish the season against each other. Four Seed: UK loses at least one game, and Arkansas and Tennessee both need at least one win. The Razorbacks and Vols have the tiebreaker over the Wildcats.167 W Main Street, Lexington | @LockboxLex | LockboxLex.com LEXINGTONLocated at GLOW BIG BLUE Just blocks from Rupp Arena, we’re the perfect destination for your pre-game dinner or post-game drinks.
