The tip time and TV network will be announced at a later time. The rescheduled game, which was original- ly slated to begin the Southeastern Conference slate for UK on Dec. 29, will conclude the league portion of UK's schedule. The Wildcats' previously postponed game vs. Texas A&M on Feb. 23 will not be rescheduled. Kentucky will finish with 17 conference games. The original South Carolina game was postponed due to a combination of positive tests, contact tracing and subsequent quaran- tining of individuals within the South Caroli- na men's basketball program. The decision to postpone was consistent with SEC COVID-19 management requirements. Tickets purchased for the original Dec. 29 date with South Carolina will still be valid for the rescheduled game against the Game- cocks on March 6. UK ticket holders will re- ceive communication via email if additional changes are made to Kentucky's schedule. Given the unusual nature of this season – specifically, the current unknowns related to postponed games getting rescheduled or can- celed games getting replaced – UK Athletics appreciates the continued support, flexibili- ty and understanding of its ticket holders. If circumstances change during the season and games are canceled and not rescheduled, UK Athletics will evaluate credit and refund op- tions for the ticket portion of payment at the conclusion of the season. UK will play the Gamecocks for the first time this season. South Carolina enters this weekend 5-12 overall and 3-10 in SEC play. Kentucky owns a 52-13 all-time record vs. the Gamecocks, including 28-2 in Rupp Arena. South Carolina defeated the Wildcats 81-78 last season on a buzzer beater in Co- lumbia, South Carolina. The Wildcats are playing their best bas- ketball heading into the homestretch of the season. UK has won three straight games heading into Saturday's Senior Day game vs. Florida, including an impressive 70-55 victo- ry last weekend at No. 19/20 Tennessee. UK is averaging 78.0 points per game and shooting 40.6% from 3 and 82.9% from the free-throw line during its three-game win- ning streak. Forward Isaiah Jackson, who was named SEC Freshman of the Week on Monday, is averaging 16.3 points and 9.0 re- bounds during the modest three-game run. Even before the winning streak, the offen- sive numbers are up across the board. UK has scored 80 or more three times in the last four games – after doing it just once in the previous 17 – and recorded a combined 62 assists with a combined 40 3-pointers. The 40 3-pointers are the second-most in the John Calipari era over a four-game stretch. Graduate guard Davion Mintz has made 14 of them. The defense has remained great, ranking 25th in Ken Pomeroy's defensive efficiency rankings through games on Wednesday. The South Carolina game was the first of four UK games affected by COVID-19 safety protocols. In addition to the South Carolina and Texas A&M games, the Wildcats' Nov. 27 game vs. Detroit Mercy was postponed due to a combination of positive tests, con- tact tracing and subsequent quarantining of individuals within the Detroit Mercy program and the SEC/Big 12 matchup vs. Texas on Jan. 30 was canceled after UK was put on a pause following a combination of positive testing, contact tracing and subsequent quarantining of individuals within the program. Jackson Named SEC Freshman of the Week After helping lead the Kentucky men's basketball team to a pair of Southeastern Conference road victories, freshman Isaiah Jackson was named the league's Freshman of the Week on Monday. It is the first such honor of Jackson's career. Jackson averaged 15.5 points, 8.0 re- bounds and 2.0 blocks per game in wins at Vanderbilt and in an upset of No. 19/20 Tennessee. Against Vanderbilt, the Pontiac, Michigan, native poured in 15 points and narrowly missed on a double-double with nine rebounds. He also was a perfect 5 for 5 from the field against the Commodores. The 6-foot-10 forward had a team-high 16 points and added seven rebounds and a pair of rejections against the Volunteers. The win over Tennessee was the first over an Associated Press Top 25 opponent this season for the Wildcats. The 15-point margin of victory also matched the largest win over a ranked team on the road under John Calipari. Kentucky has dominated the weekly SEC awards with Calipari at the helm. UK has won more weekly SEC honors (110) than any other school during the Calipari era, includ- ing 85 SEC Freshman of the Week honors and 25 SEC Player of the Week awards. Jackson is the second Wildcat to win SEC Freshman of the Week this season. Dontaie Allen earned the award on Jan. 4 following a breakout scoring performance at Mississippi State. During UK's three-game winning streak, Jackson has done a little bit of everything for the Wildcats, but it's been his breakthrough offensively that has provided the biggest spark. He has his three largest scoring outputs of the season in each of the last three games. He has snared at least seven rebounds in all three victories and has two blocks in each game as well Jackson has been a menace for the Wild- cats this season defensively. He has 56 blocked shots on the year and ranks third in the country in block percentage at 13.2%. Jackson is 13th in the nation with an average of 2.7 blocks per game. He leads the team with six double-digit rebounding efforts. Booker Added to 2021 NBA All-Star Game Kentucky men's basketball alumnus Devin Booker was added to the 2021 NBA All-Star Game Western Conference roster by the league's commissioner, Adam Silver, on Wednesday. Booker will replace a fellow Wildcat, Anthony Davis, who is currently un- available with an injury. This marks the second straight All-Star se- lection for Booker. Booker's addition gives the Wildcats three All-Stars in 2021, which ties Duke for the most selections. In addition to Da- vis and Booker, Julius Randle was a first-time pick as a reserve for the Eastern Conference. It is the eighth straight season UK has led the country in All-Star selections (tied or led outright). Booker was a member of the UK team that became the first in collegiate history to begin the season 38-0 during its unprecedented run to the Final Four in 2015. Next >
