The former Oklahoma Sooner scored a career-high 28 points, including 23 in the second half, as No. 17 Kentucky held off Oklahoma 83- 82 on Wednesday night at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman. Oweh carried the Cats down the stretch. He scored UK’s last 18 points and 21 of Ken- tucky’s final 23 points, then blocked Okla- homa’s attempt at a game-winning shot with one second remaining to seal the victory. Oweh, who played his first two years of college basketball at Oklahoma, enjoyed his return to the Lloyd Noble Center. He made 12 of 21 from the field, including 1 of 3 from beyond the arc and 3 of 5 at the free throw line to account for his 28 points. Kentucky (19-9, 8-7 Southeastern Con- ference) got 12 points, four rebounds, three steals and two blocks from Oklahoma State transfer Brandon Garrison. Some additional notes from the game: • Kentucky shot 50 percent from the floor (29-58). UK is 13-1 when shooting 50 percent or better • Oklahoma shot 53 percent from the field (30-57) • It was Kentucky’s second win of the season and first in SEC play when shooting a lower percentage than their opponent • UK is 2-4 this season when the oppo- nent shoots over 50 percent • The Cats won despite just two players (Oweh and Garrison) scoring double-fig- ures, the fewest to reach double-figures in a game this season • Kentucky was 7-23 from behind the 3-point arc (.304) • It matches the fewest made 3s in a win for Kentucky this season (Georgia State, Gonzaga) • Wildcats improve to 3-6 in true road games on the season • Oklahoma did not register a single blocked shot on the night, the third time a Kentucky opponent has gone without a block this season and the first time in SEC play • The Cats forced 15 Sooner turnovers on the night, tied for the most by an oppo- nent in an SEC game this season (Mississippi State, at Alabama) Kentucky vs. No. 1 Saturday will mark the 122nd all-time meet- ing between Kentucky and Auburn. UK leads the series 98-23, including 51-2 in Lexington. The Tigers have not won a game in Lex- ington since 1988. This matchup will mark the 14th meet- ing between the two teams when both are ranked inside of the Associated Press Top 25. Kentucky leads the series 9-4 when the two teams are both ranked and owns a 4-0 record against the Tigers in top-25 matchups in Rupp. Already winners of seven games against Associated Press Top 15 and five over top-10 teams in 2024-25 which are both program records, the Cats have a chance at additional history on Saturday against the No. 1 Auburn Tigers. With a win, UK would tie the record for most regular-season wins against both AP Top-10 and Top-15 teams all-time among any program. Should UK get a win against Auburn, it would mark the sixth win over a top-10 team this season, tying Syracuse (2009-10), Duke (1998-99) and Indiana (1992-93) for such victories. It would mark the eighth win over an AP Top-15 squad, tying Indiana (1992-93) and Duke (1978-79) in that category. All-time UK is 8-16 against No. 1 teams in the land. Kentucky has won two of its last three matchups vs. the No. 1 team in the country, including an 86-69 win over No. 1 Tennessee on Feb. 16, 2019 the last time the top-ranked team visited Rupp Arena.Thank You to Our CORNERSTONE PARTNERSNEAround the SEC Around the Country 2024-25 SEC Standings and Statistics Team SEC Overall Home Road Auburn 14-1 26-2 13-1 7-1 Alabama 12-3 23-5 12-2 8-2 Florida 11-4 24-4 13-1 6-3 Tennessee 10-5 23-5 14-1 6-4 Missouri 10-5 21-7 18-1 3-5 Texas A&M 9-6 20-8 12-3 4-4 Kentucky 8-7 19-9 12-2 3-6 Ole Miss 8-7 19-9 11-3 5-5 Mississippi State 7-8 19-9 9-4 6-4 Vanderbilt 7-8 19-9 13-2 3-6 Arkansas 6-9 17-11 12-4 3-5 Georgia 5-10 17-11 14-3 1-7 Texas 5-10 16-12 11-5 3-6 Oklahoma 4-11 17-11 10-5 1-6 LSU 3-12 14-14 11-6 2-6 South Carolina 1-14 11-17 9-7 1-9 Scoring Player-Team ...................................................................PPG Johnson, Tre - Texas .....................................................20.88 Sears, Mark - UA .........................................................18.96 Broome, Johni - AUB ...................................................18.77 Hubbard, Josh - MISS ST .............................................17.96 Lanier, Chaz - UT ........................................................17.82 Rebounding Player-Team ...................................................................RPG Broome, Johni - AUB ...................................................11.00 Williams, Amari - UK ...................................................8.61 Murray-Boyles, Collin - SC ............................................8.46 McGlockton, Devin - VU ...............................................8.00 Kaluma, Arthur - Texas ...................................................7.88 Assists Player-Team ...................................................................APG Zeigler, Zakai - UT ........................................................7.30 Sears, Mark - UA ..........................................................5.00 Taylor IV, Wade - TA&M ................................................4.75 Hoggard, A.J. - VU .........................................................4.56 Clayton Jr., Walter - UF ..................................................4.04 Steals Player-Team ...................................................................SPG Matthews, Cameron - MISS ST .......................................2.54 Robinson II, Anthony - MO ............................................2.11 Zeigler, Zakai - UT .......................................................2.00 Pedulla, Sean - UM .......................................................1.93 Phelps, Zhuric - TA&M ..................................................1.89 Blocks Player-Team ...................................................................BPG Broome, Johni - AUB .....................................................2.54 Ivisic, Zvonimir - ARK ....................................................2.04 Okpara, Felix - UT .........................................................1.79 Shedrick, Kadin - Texas ..................................................1.75 Cyril, Somto - UGA .......................................................1.64 2024-25 Associated Press Rankings As of February 24, 2025 (week 17) Team Record Points 1 Auburn (60) 25-2 1500 2 Duke 24-3 1406 3 Florida 24-3 1397 4 Houston 23-4 1327 5 Tennessee 22-5 1236 6 Alabama 22-5 1198 7 St. John's 24-4 1132 8 Michigan State 22-5 1055 9 Iowa State 21-6 1004 10 Texas Tech 21-6 915 11 Wisconsin 21-6 800 12 Texas A&M 20-7 797 13 Clemson 22-5 712 14 Missouri 20-7 683 15 Michigan 20-6 657 16 Maryland 21-6 630 17 Kentucky 18-9 461 18 Memphis 22-5 393 19 Louisville 21-6 372 20 Purdue 19-9 328 21 Marquette 20-7 309 22 Arizona 18-9 289 23 Saint Mary's 25-4 284 24 Mississippi State 19-8 264 25 BYU 19-8 135 18 @KentuckyMBBWe’re your Shield.
