UK is 10-1 this season when at least five play- ers hit double digits. • Kentucky limited Tennessee to 34.7 per- cent from the field (25 of 72). It is UK’s third- best defensive percentage of the season, best vs. an SEC opponent. • Kentucky limited Tennessee to 24.4 per- cent on 3-pointers (11 of 45). UK is 9-0 this season when keeping the opponent under 25 percent from long range. Know Your Opponent Arkansas, coached by former UK head coach John Calipari, enters Saturday's match- up with a 12-8 overall record and a 1-6 mark in league action. Former Wildcat Adou Thiero paces the Razorbacks with career-highs of 16.1 points per game and 6.2 rebounds per outing. Fellow former Cats, D.J. Wagner (10.2 ppg, 2.8 apg) and Zvonimir Ivisic (7.4 ppg, 1.8 bpg), headline the familiar roster. Arkansas will be without star freshman Boogie Fland (15.1 ppg, 5.7 apg) for the third straight game. UK leads the all-time series by a 36-14 margin, including a 16-5 record when the game is in Lexington. UK has won three straight in the series. Kentucky is 13-4 all-time against former head coaches (Pitino, Smith). John Calipari will be the third former UK coach to face the Cats since the Adolph Rupp era. Welcome Back, Hall of Famer John Calipari Rupp Arena and Big Blue Nation will wel- come back one of its own on Saturday night when John Calipari leads the Arkansas Ra- zorbacks to face UK. Calipari spent 15 sea- sons as UK's head coach prior to taking the job at Arkansas in 2024-25. Calipari's time in Lexington was every bit as successful -- and more -- as fans hoped it would be when he agreed to become UK's coach in 2009. By just about every measure, he was the most successful coach in college basketball during his tenure with the Cats. He claimed the 2012 National Cham- pionship. He won six Southeastern Confer- ence regular-season titles and six SEC Tour- nament crowns. Calipari left as UK's second all-time win- ningest coach, trailing only Adolph Rupp. His 234 wins inside of Rupp Arena are more than any other head coach. Calipari directed UK to a program-record 32 NCAA Tournament wins. He advanced his teams to four Final Fours, seven Elite Eights and eight Sweet 16s. Oscar Tshiebwe and Anthony Davis were National Players of the Year. Tyler Ulis earned the Bob Cousy Award for the best point guard, while Malik Monk was the Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year. John Wall, Da- vis and Reed Sheppard were the nation's best freshmen. Sixteen players earned All-America hon- ors, six were tabbed SEC Players of the Year, 12 took home SEC Freshman of the Year ac- colades and 50 players were drafted into the NBA. Calipari also helped raise millions of dol- lars to help the lives of those in need in the Commonwealth and beyond. He had a par- ticular passion to assist those impacted by nat- ural disasters. For instance, in 2010, he used a telethon to raise more than $1 million for vic- tims of the devastating earthquake in Haiti. He followed that up with telethons in 2012, rais- ing $1 million for victims of Superstorm San- dy, in 2017 for victims of Hurricane Harvey, played a leading role in the "Kentucky United" efforts that generated more than $5 million for victims of devastating tornadoes in Western Kentucky in 2021, and raised nearly $4 mil- lion with the Kentucky Flood Relief Telethon and open practice at Rupp Arena in 2022. In 2019, when federal workers were with- out pay due to a government shutdown, he, his wife and his foundation assisted workers with financial help and grocery gift cards. He and his wife, Ellen, teamed up with Fay- ette County Public Schools to help families in need during the COVID-19 pandemic. He spearheaded the creation of the John McLendon Minority Leadership Initiative, a nationwide coach-driven initiative to provide minorities a jump-start to their careers through practical experiences, opportunities to build their network and instilling the values of John McLendon: integrity, education, leadership and mentorship. Coaches vs. Cancer The Kentucky coaching staff will take part in a special way in partnership with Coaches vs. Cancer and a campus initiative. The staff will take part in suits and sneak- ers, but will be wearing a special set of sneak- ers vs. Arkansas: ones painted by local pediat- ric cancer patients. The painting party was held in November in conjunction with the women's basketball staff and DanceBlue. Pediatric cancer patients and their families painted the shoes. The game-worn shoes will be signed by the staff member who wore them and auctioned off around the DanceBlue marathon March 29-30. DanceBlue is an entirely student-run organization that fund raises year-round for the DanceBlue Pediatric Hematology/ Oncology Clinic at UK Children’s Hospital. Their annual efforts culminate in a 24-hour no sitting, no sleeping dance marathon to raise funds for the Clinic and families of patients.Thank You to Our CORNERSTONE PARTNERSNEAround the SEC Around the Country 2024-25 SEC Standings and Statistics Team SEC Overall Home Road Auburn 7-0 19-1 9-0 4-1 Alabama 7-1 18-3 9-1 6-1 Florida 5-2 18-2 10-1 3-1 Missouri 5-2 16-4 15-0 1-3 Ole Miss 5-3 16-5 10-1 3-3 Texas A&M 5-3 16-5 10-1 2-3 Vanderbilt 4-3 16-4 11-1 2-2 Kentucky 4-3 15-5 9-1 2-3 Tennessee 4-4 17-4 11-1 3-3 Mississippi State 4-4 16-5 8-2 4-2 Georgia 3-5 15-6 12-1 1-4 Texas 3-5 14-7 10-3 2-3 Oklahoma 2-5 15-5 8-2 1-3 Arkansas 1-6 12-8 9-3 1-3 LSU 1-6 12-8 10-2 1-4 South Carolina 0-8 10-11 8-5 1-5 Scoring Player-Team ...................................................................PPG Johnson, Tre - Texas .................................................... 19.00 Broome, Johni - AUB ...................................................18.22 Moore, Jalon - OK .......................................................18.20 Sears, Mark - UA .........................................................18.00 Carter, Cam - LSU ........................................................17.90 Rebounding Player-Team ...................................................................RPG Broome, Johni - AUB ...................................................11.17 Murray-Boyles, Collin - SC ............................................8.90 Williams, Amari - UK ...................................................8.90 Nelson, Grant - UA ......................................................8.33 Condon, Alex - UF .......................................................8.15 Assists Player-Team ...................................................................APG Zeigler, Zakai - UT ........................................................7.43 Fland, Boogie - ARK ......................................................5.72 Sears, Mark - UA ...........................................................5.05 Butler, Lamont - UK ......................................................4.76 Taylor IV, Wade - TA&M ................................................4.59 Steals Player-Team ...................................................................SPG Matthews, Cameron - MISS ST .......................................2.62 Pedulla, Sean - UM .......................................................2.24 Tanner, Tyler - VU .........................................................2.20 Murrell, Matthew - UM ................................................2.18 Zeigler, Zakai - UT .......................................................2.10 Blocks Player-Team ...................................................................BPG Broome, Johni - AUB .....................................................2.78 Cyril, Somto - UGA .......................................................1.81 Ivisic, Zvonimir - ARK ....................................................1.79 Collins, Daimion - LSU ..................................................1.78 Okpara, Felix - UT ........................................................1.71 2024-25 Associated Press Rankings As of January 27, 2025 (week 13) Team Record Points 1 Auburn (62) 18-1 1550 2 Duke 17-2 1484 3 Iowa State 17-2 1404 4 Alabama 17-3 1342 5 Florida 18-2 1278 6 Houston 16-3 1242 7 Michigan State 17-2 1170 8 Tennessee 17-3 1149 9 Marquette 17-3 1068 10 Purdue 16-5 892 11 Kansas 14-5 877 12 Kentucky 14-5 858 13 Texas A&M 15-5 775 14 Mississippi State 16-4 715 15 St. John's 17-3 588 16 Oregon 16-4 448 17 Wisconsin 16-4 440 18 Illinois 14-6 384 19 Memphis 16-4 383 20 Missouri 16-4 352 21 Louisville 15-5 346 22 Texas Tech 15-4 308 23 Ole Miss 15-5 215 24 Vanderbilt 16-4 132 25 UConn 14-6 131 18 @KentuckyMBBWe’re your Shield.
