Last season, Kentucky concluded its 2021 campaign a 197.600 performance at the NCAA Salt Lake City Regional final, matching the best team score in program history. The Wildcats finished at No. 11 in the Road to Nationals All-Around Team National Standings, peaking at No. 8 and never ranking outside the top 15. Behind four 197-point outings, Kentucky’s magical season included the best balance beam ro- tation in program history (49.525) and a tie for the best uneven parallel bars rotation in program history (49.475). In postseason play, the Wildcats tied their all-time best finish at the SEC Championships as the second Session I team to ever place among top four overall. Kentucky also re- corded its only first-place finish in an NCAA Regional meet in program history with a second straight defeat of LSU and wins over Utah State and Arizona in the NCAA Salt Lake City Regional second round. Raena Worley was named a 2021 WCGA Regular Season All-America sec- ond-team member as an all-around com- petitor before notching the best individual all-around score by any Kentucky gymnast other than eight-time NCAA champion Jenny Hansen with a 39.750 in the NCAA Salt Lake City Regional final, while Cally Nixon tied the best individual bars score in program history (9.975) during the reg- ular season. Worley, Josie Angeny, Bailey Bunn, Anna Haigis and Arianna Patterson earned All-SEC status after the Cats’ suc- cessful showing at the SEC Championships. Worley and Bunn extended Kentucky’s pro- gram-best streak of seven straight NCAA Championships with at least one individ- ual competitor by qualifying on vault and beam, respectively.
