Koby Brea, starting in place of the injured Jaxson Robinson, scored 11 points and Trent Noah came off the bench to score 11 as well. Kentucky (17-7, 6-5 Southeastern Confer- ence) made 12 of 24 from beyond the arc, while the Vols made just 3 of 18 (16.7 percent) of their long-distance shots. UK's bench accounted for 26 points, in- cluding 11 from Noah and eight from Travis Perry. Some additional notes from the game: • This was Kentucky’s eighth game this sea- son against a team ranked in The Associated Press top 15. UK is now 7-1 in those games, setting the school record for most top-15 wins in the regular season. The previous record was six top-15 wins in the regular season by the 2002-03 team. • UK now owns five wins against AP top 10 teams this season, the most in Division I • Kentucky limited Tennessee to 16.7 per- cent on 3-point shooting, making 3 of 18. UK is 11-0 this season when the opponent makes less than 25 percent. • Kentucky had balanced scoring with nine players hitting the scoring column, eight of whom scored at least five points. • The leading scorers, Ansley Almonor and Otega Oweh, had 13 points. The 13 points is the lowest high scorer in a game for UK this season. The previous “low” high scorer was Andrew Carr’s 14 points in the win over Brown. • Kentucky made 50 percent from the field, 26 of 52. The Wildcats are 11-1 this sea- son making at least half their shots. It was the first time UK has shot 50% or ter from the field in both regular-season meetings with Tennes- see for the first time since 2008-09 • Kentucky made 50 percent from long range, 12 of 24. The Wildcats are 4-0 this sea- son when making at least half of their 3-point tries. • UK is 7-0 this season when making at least 12 triples. • With Jaxson Robinson and Kerr Kriisa out, UK has played only seven games this sea- son at full strength. Scouting Texas Kentucky will take on the Longhorns for just the third time in program history and the first time as a visiting team in Austin. The Wild- cats are 2-0 in their previous two meetings, the most recent coming during the 2014-15 season when UK earned a 63-51 win in Lexington in the then Big 12/SEC Challenge. Texas owns a 15- 10 overall record and a 4-8 mark in league play. The Horns are led by freshman sensation, Tre Johnson, who is averaging a team- high 19.3 points per game and shooting nearly 40% from 3-point range. Ar- thur Kaluma pitches in 12.9 points and a team-best 7.9 re- bounds. The Longhorns are on a three-game losing skid and have dropped four of their last five. However, Texas owns mar- quee wins over Tex- as A&M, Missouri and in the SEC/ACC Challenge against NC State. The Wildcats are no stranger to Austin, although, it's been 20 years since their last ap- pearance in the city. Kentucky played in the Austin Regional in the 2005 NCAA Tournament. UK de- feated Utah in the regional semifinals before a double-overtime loss to Michigan State in the regional final. Kentucky Basketball Chapter XXIII: The Pope Era Coaches around the country and the SEC likely heard the tune of Taylor Swift's "I knew you were trouble when you walked in ..." the moment Mark Pope stepped off the bus car- rying him alongside more than 50 other UK men's basketball alumni on April 14, 2024. It was the date of his introduction as the 23rd men's basketball coach of the most storied program in college basketball in front of a filled Rupp Arena. And he's in fact, been noth- ing but trouble for opponents in 2024-25. Pope has been a thorn in the side of seven Associated Press Top 15 teams thus far, includ- ing five ranked in the top 10. • The seven wins against AP Top 15 teams in the regular season is a program record, bet- tering the 2002-03 team who earned six wins. • Five of those have come against top-10 teams, which is also a program record. • With a win over No. 6 Florida on Jan. 4, he joined Adolph Rupp as the only coaches in program history to win each of their first three matchups vs. AP Top-10 teams. • He's done it in dramatic fashion as well. Pope and his squad overcame a 16-point half- time deficit to outlast No. 7 Gonzaga on Dec. 7, 2024. It matched the largest halftime hole overcome in program history. • Making the mark even more impressive, the squad has captured only one win over a top-15 team at full strength. Lamont Butler missed the Gonzaga game, and Kerr Kriisa suffered an injury during the game with the Zags and has not played since.Thank You to Our CORNERSTONE PARTNERSNEAround the SEC Around the Country 2024-25 SEC Standings and Statistics Team SEC Overall Home Road Auburn 10-1 22-2 10-1 6-1 Alabama 10-1 21-3 10-1 8-1 Florida 8-3 21-3 11-1 5-2 Texas A&M 8-3 19-5 11-1 4-3 Ole Miss 8-4 19-6 11-2 5-3 Missouri 7-4 18-6 16-1 2-4 Tennessee 7-5 20-5 13-1 4-4 Kentucky 6-5 17-7 11-2 2-4 Mississippi State 5-6 17-7 8-4 5-2 Vanderbilt 5-6 17-7 12-2 2-4 Arkansas 4-7 15-9 10-4 3-3 Georgia 4-8 16-9 13-2 1-6 Texas 4-8 15-10 10-5 3-4 Oklahoma 3-8 16-8 9-3 1-5 LSU 1-10 12-12 10-4 1-6 South Carolina 0-11 10-14 8-7 1-6 Scoring Player-Team ...................................................................PPG Johnson, Tre - Texas .....................................................19.26 Broome, Johni - AUB ...................................................18.09 Sears, Mark - UA ....................................................... 17.79 Hubbard, Josh - MISS ST ..............................................17.58 Clayton Jr., Walter - UF ...............................................17.52 Rebounding Player-Team ...................................................................RPG Broome, Johni - AUB ...................................................10.73 Williams, Amari - UK ....................................................8.71 Murray-Boyles, Collin - SC ............................................8.67 Nelson, Grant - UA .......................................................8.13 McGlockton, Devin - VU ...............................................8.08 Assists Player-Team ...................................................................APG Zeigler, Zakai - UT ........................................................7.46 Fland, Boogie - ARK ......................................................5.72 Sears, Mark - UA ..........................................................4.92 Butler, Lamont - UK ......................................................4.63 Hoggard, A.J. - VU .........................................................4.61 Steals Player-Team ...................................................................SPG Matthews, Cameron - MISS ST ...................................... 2.50 Zeigler, Zakai - UT ........................................................2.08 Tanner, Tyler - VU ..........................................................2.08 Pedulla, Sean - UM........................................................2.04 Murrell, Matthew - UM ................................................1.95 Blocks Player-Team ...................................................................BPG Broome, Johni - AUB .....................................................2.73 Ivisic, Zvonimir - ARK ....................................................1.96 Okpara, Felix - UT .........................................................1.84 Cyril, Somto - UGA .......................................................1.80 Shedrick, Kadin - Texas ..................................................1.64 2024-25 Associated Press Rankings As of February 10, 2025 (week 15) Team Record Points 1 Auburn (34) 21-2 1479 2 Alabama (23) 20-3 1470 3 Duke 20-3 1342 3 Florida (3) 20-3 1342 5 Tennessee (1) 20-4 1315 6 Houston 19-4 1235 7 Purdue 19-5 1142 8 Texas A&M 18-5 1065 9 St. John's 21-3 1058 10 Iowa State 18-5 880 11 Michigan State 19-4 868 12 Texas Tech 18-5 778 13 Arizona 17-6 701 14 Memphis 20-4 676 15 Kentucky 16-7 558 16 Wisconsin 19-5 488 17 Kansas 16-7 469 18 Marquette 18-6 442 19 Ole Miss 18-6 415 20 Michigan 18-5 350 21 Missouri 17-6 333 22 Mississippi State 17-6 292 23 Clemson 19-5 291 24 Creighton 18-6 198 25 Maryland 18-6 196 18 @KentuckyMBBWe’re your Shield.
