For Oweh, it was the 26th consecutive game in which he has scored in double fig- ures, and it was the eighth time that he has scored at least 20 points. Kentucky (18-8, 7-6 Southeastern Con- ference) got 17 points and six rebounds from Amari Williams. Koby Brea had 12 and Andrew Carr added 11. Brea got the scoring started with a 3, giving the Cats an early lead. A Carr layup made it 5-0 before Vandy scored five in a row to tie the game. Kentucky got off to a hot start in the second half, scoring the first six points on baskets by Carr, Williams and Oweh. In the process, UK extended the lead to 47-40. Vandy scored to cut the UK lead to 10 before Brea hit his third 3-pointer of the night, giving UK a 59-46 advantage. After the ‘Dores scored three in a row, Oweh made a layup, then a 3 and the Cats led 64- 49 with 8:42 to play. A Carr dunk extended the UK lead to 66-49. Some additional notes from the game: • Kentucky shot 58 percent from the field, 29 of 50, the highest mark this season against an SEC opponent • It was Kentucky’s largest margin of vic- tory against Vanderbilt at home since March 5, 2003 (62 points) • Kentucky made all 13 free throw at- tempts, which tied for the fifth-most at- tempts in school history for a perfect night at the foul line. • Kentucky limited Vanderbilt to 20 per- cent on 3-point shooting, making 5 of 25 • UK opponents have made only 17 of 88 on long balls in the last four games (19.3 percent), with the Wildcats winning three of those four • UK is 12-1 this season when the oppo- nent makes less than 25 percent • With Lamont Butler, Jaxson Robinson and Kerr Kriisa out tonight, UK has played only seven games this season at full strength Last Time vs. Alabama No. 8 Kentucky had seven players in double figures, but the Cats lost to fourth- ranked Alabama 102-97 on Jan. 18 at Rupp Arena. Otega Oweh led the Cats with 21 points and Lamont Butler had 15 points and eight assists. Amari Williams had a double-dou- ble with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Brandon Garrison and Jaxson Robinson each had 11. Koby Brea and Ansley Almon- or chipped in with 10 points for the Cats. Kentucky had more second-chance points (20-15), bench points (31-24) and points in the paint (44-34). However, Ala- bama made 29 of 34 at the free throw line, compared to just 16 of 20 for UK. UK leads the all-time series, 117-42, including a 32-26 mark when the game is played in Tuscaloosa. This is the first time the teams have met twice in the same year since the 2021-22 season. Chasing History Already winners of seven games against Associated Press Top 15 and five over top- 10 teams in 2024-25 which are both pro- gram records, the Cats have a chance at ad- ditional history on Saturday against the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide. With a win, UK would tie the record for most regular-season wins against both AP Top-10 and Top-15 teams all-time among any program. Should UK get a win at Alabama, it would mark the sixth win over a top-10 team this season, tying Syracuse (2009-10), Duke (1998-99) and Indiana (1992-93) for such victories. It would mark the eighth win over an AP Top-15 squad, tying Indiana (1992-93) and Duke (1978-79) in that category. Division I Basketball Committee Top 16 One month from Selection Sunday, the Division I Men's Basketball Committee unveiled its top 16 teams on on Feb. 15, listing Kentucky as the No. 10 team over- all and a projected No. 3 seed in the west region. The SEC features six of the top 16 teams including three of the four projected No. 1 seeds. Since the bracket preview show de- buted in 2017, only eight No. 3 seeds failed to stay in the top four lines on Selection Sun- day. Overall, 84 percent of teams unveiled on the show remained on the top four lines when the final bracket was revealed.Thank You to Our CORNERSTONE PARTNERSNEAround the SEC Around the Country 2024-25 SEC Standings and Statistics Team SEC Overall Home Road Auburn 12-1 24-2 11-1 7-1 Florida 10-3 23-3 13-1 5-2 Alabama 10-3 21-5 10-2 8-2 Missouri 9-4 20-6 17-1 3-4 Texas A&M 9-4 20-6 12-1 4-4 Tennessee 8-5 21-5 14-1 4-4 Ole Miss 8-5 19-7 11-3 5-3 Mississippi State 7-6 19-7 9-4 6-2 Kentucky 7-6 18-8 12-2 2-5 Vanderbilt 5-8 17-9 12-2 2-6 Texas 5-8 16-10 11-5 3-4 Georgia 4-9 16-10 13-3 1-6 Arkansas 4-9 15-11 10-4 3-5 Oklahoma 3-10 16-10 9-4 1-6 LSU 3-10 14-12 11-4 2-6 South Carolina 0-13 10-16 8-7 1-8 Scoring Player-Team ...................................................................PPG Johnson, Tre - Texas ....................................................19.79 Sears, Mark - UA ........................................................18.46 Broome, Johni - AUB ..................................................18.04 Hubbard, Josh - MISS ST .............................................17.81 Lanier, Chaz - UT .......................................................17.50 Rebounding Player-Team ...................................................................RPG Broome, Johni - AUB ...................................................10.96 Williams, Amari - UK ....................................................8.73 Murray-Boyles, Collin - SC ............................................8.46 Nelson, Grant - UA .......................................................8.08 McGlockton, Devin - VU ..............................................7.92 Assists Player-Team ...................................................................APG Zeigler, Zakai - UT .......................................................7.48 Sears, Mark - UA ...........................................................4.81 Hoggard, A.J. - VU .........................................................4.60 Taylor IV, Wade - TA&M ................................................4.50 Clayton Jr., Walter - UF .................................................4.16 Steals Player-Team ...................................................................SPG Matthews, Cameron - MISS ST .......................................2.62 Robinson II, Anthony - MO ...........................................2.04 Pedulla, Sean - UM .......................................................2.00 Zeigler, Zakai - UT ........................................................2.00 Tanner, Tyler - VU ..........................................................1.96 Blocks Player-Team ...................................................................BPG Broome, Johni - AUB .....................................................2.58 Ivisic, Zvonimir - ARK ....................................................2.08 Okpara, Felix - UT .........................................................1.81 Cyril, Somto - UGA .......................................................1.73 Collins, Daimion - LSU ..................................................1.67 2024-25 Associated Press Rankings As of February 17, 2025 (week 16) Team Record Points 1 Auburn (59) 23-2 1499 2 Florida (1) 22-3 1387 3 Duke 22-3 1382 4 Alabama 21-4 1335 5 Houston 21-4 1290 6 Tennessee 21-5 1147 7 Texas A&M 20-5 1140 8 Iowa State 20-5 1034 9 Texas Tech 20-5 969 10 St. John's 22-4 933 11 Wisconsin 20-5 879 12 Michigan 20-5 734 13 Purdue 19-7 732 14 Michigan State 20-5 724 15 Missouri 19-6 573 16 Marquette 19-6 527 17 Kentucky 17-8 518 18 Clemson 21-5 499 19 Arizona 17-8 362 20 Maryland 20-6 361 21 Mississippi State 18-7 325 22 Memphis 21-5 308 23 Kansas 17-8 193 24 Ole Miss 19-7 177 25 Louisville 20-6 137 18 @KentuckyMBBWe’re your Shield.
