In 1932 halfback Jimmy Hitchcock made Auburn history by becoming the first player to earn All-America honors. Eighty-nine years later, Roger McCreary continued the legacy of Auburn greats by becoming a first team All-American on three different lists in 2021. The first cornerback to earn All-America honors since Chris Davis in 2013, McCreary was placed on the Associated Press, The Athletic and ESPN first teams. n Seventy-two Tiger players have combined for 81 first team All-America honors. End Jimmy Phillips is Auburn’s most celebrated All-American, making 11 teams in 1957. Pat Sullivan, Terry Beasley, Bo Jackson and Tracy Rocker were each named to 10 teams in a single season. n Auburn has had 22 seasons with multiple All-Americans and nine seasons with three or more. Carnell Williams Karlos Dansby Terry BeasleyAUBURNTIGERS.COM COVER FEATURE What is your favorite Auburn tradition? My favorite Auburn tradition is the Auburn University Marching Band. This organization is rich with history, and I’m honored to be part of it as we celebrate our 128th anniversary. The AUMB has given me opportunities I never could have imagined, like winning a national band competition and recording the theme song for EA’s College Football ‘26. I’m so grateful to be part of its legacy. Every time I put on the uniform, I know I’m representing not only myself but every AUMB member who came before me. It’s something truly special. If you could walk in someone else’s shoes for a day, who would it be? I’d love to step into Aubie’s shoes for a day! I love his crazy hijinks, but even more, I love how deeply he’s involved in the Auburn community. He’s everywhere, connecting with people of all ages and backgrounds. Getting to do all of that, even just for a day, would be an incredible experience! What does it mean to be on the Homecoming Court? Being on the Homecoming Court is one of the greatest honors of my life so far. I was nominated by Tau Beta Sigma as our very first nominee, and it has been so meaningful to represent not only TBS but also the Auburn University Marching Band on such a big stage. This experience has reminded me of the impact of service, sisterhood and music on my Auburn journey. I am so grateful to the people who have supported me along the way. I’m beyond excited for the week ahead: the traditions, the celebrations, and most importantly, the opportunity to pour back into the Auburn community that has given me so much. Auburn has shaped me into the leader, friend and servant I am today, and I can’t wait to carry this experience with me long after Homecoming is over. What has been your favorite class at Auburn? My favorite class at Auburn has been women’s choir. Even though I’m an instrumental music education major, it was a required course for my degree. I wouldn’t call myself a singer, but Dr. William Powell and Dr. Rosephanye Powell teach with such care and passion that it’s impossible not to be inspired. They work with hundreds of students each semester yet still take the time to truly know every individual. They are the type of music educators that I aspire to be after I leave Auburn! Describe Auburn to someone who has never been here. Auburn is, without a doubt, the most perfect place. It has the best of both worlds: a big-time campus with all the energy, opportunities and excitement you could want while keeping the warmth and closeness of a small-town community. The traditions run deep from rolling Toomer’s Corner to game days in Jordan-Hare Stadium. They create a sense of belonging that connects students across generations. The campus itself is beautiful. Every walk across campus feels like stepping into the heart of Auburn. But what truly sets Auburn apart are the people. The Auburn Family is more than just a phrase. It’s the way people support one another, celebrate each other’s successes and stand by you in challenges. Everyone here genuinely wants to see you thrive, and they’ll be your biggest cheerleaders through every step of the journey. That love and encouragement is what makes Auburn feel like home no matter where you come from.
