Other than its annual Iron Bowl matchup against Alabama, the only other in-state FBS opponent Auburn has faced is UAB in 1996. The Tigers defeated Jacksonville State in 2015, but the Gamecocks competed at the FCS level at the time n South Alabama quarterback Bishop Davenport is operating at an extremely efficient level right now. The redshirt junior ranks 10th in the nation in both completion percentage (.763) and passing efficiency (198.8) n Safeties Ty Goodwill and Wesley Miller are proving to be a dynamic duo in the defensive backfield for the Jaguars. Goodwill currently leads the nation in pass breakups with five, while Miller intercepted a pass in Week 1, tying him for 11th in the nation in interceptions n Wide receiver Devin Voisin ranks second in the nation with three touchdown catches through two weeks of football. Voisin scored just one touchdown in 2023 and 2024 combined due to a season-ending injury and rehab n South Alabama’s defense has recovered four fumbles through two games this season. The Jags jumped on three loose balls in the season-opener, then forced one against Tulane right as the Green Wave were about the score their first points of the game n Against Tulane, running back Kentrel Bullock recorded the sixth 100-yard rushing game of his career.
