It is an immense honor to serve my organization and Auburn during Homecoming week. I am thankful to have the opportu- nity to share more about my platform and raise awareness of Auburn’s self-defense program. What has been your favorite class at Auburn and why? The Media Law and Regulation class with Mr. Ric Smith is my favorite. Mr. Smith provides a forum for open discussion on topics like the First Amendment and the restrictions and rights surrounding the media. I love debating ideas even though my family likes to call it arguing. Describe Auburn to someone who has never been here. Auburn is the best of both worlds - a big school in a small Southern town whose alumni are more like family than just fans. It is a beautiful campus that is part of the local communi- ty. Our traditions are respected and honored by our alumni and our students and that helps tie us all together. Saying “War Ea- gle” to a stranger in an Auburn gear is so much more than just a casual hello. It is a salute to the Auburn family and everything that is special about Auburn! ISABELLA WEYERMAN HOMETOWN: TRUSSVILLE, ALABAMA MAJOR/SCHOOL: CONCURRENT DEGREES IN POLITICAL SCIENCE AND VOCAL PERFORMANCE, COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS If you could play any position in foot- ball, what would you play and why? I would be the kicker because I don’t think I’d take a tackle well. What is your major and what made you decide to pursue it? I am pursuing concurrent degrees in political science and vocal performance because my goal is to be an entertainment attorney. I’ve known for a long time that I want to always work around music, and law is the perfect combination of stability and excitement! What is your favorite Auburn tradition and why? My favorite Auburn tradition is singing the Alma Mater with linked arms after every game because it expands our love for Auburn football to all of Auburn as we go back into our week as students. It is so beautiful and special to make all of Jordan-Hare into one big choir. If you could walk in someone else’s shoes for a day, who would it be and why? I would walk in Governor Kay Ivey’s shoes for a day. I in- terned in her policy office for a summer and was so impressed with the expansive duties of a governor. Last year I served as ODK’s Director of Homecoming, so I had the privilege of re- connecting with her office. I look forward to seeing her on the field again celebrating a new similarity between us as Gover- nor Ivey was a member of the Auburn University Homecom- ing Court of 1966. What does it mean to be on the Homecoming Court? The Homecoming Court represents current Auburn stu- dents and what is important to them. As alumni visit, they are welcomed by five highly involved Auburn women with plat- forms that represent Auburn’s ever changing student body. It is empowering and encouraging to join the longstanding tradition of Auburn women of the Homecoming Court. Even more so, I am honored to represent all the groups I love in- cluding Student Government, Mortar Board, Student Re- cruiters, Alpha Delta Pi, and most of all, the Auburn Univer- sity Singers! What has been your favorite class at Auburn and why? Auburn’s conducting class with Dr. William Powell taught me to manage the gift of leadership. I place a lot of emphasis on leading by example, but conducting taught me that leader- ship is a different skillset from being a great member of a team. A conductor doesn’t sing with the choir, and the choir is bet- ter for it. Being entrusted with leadership is a gift that must be handled with gratefulness and trust in your group. I carry the skillset of leadership with me everywhere I go and often rely on the tangible tools I learned in conducting. Describe Auburn to someone who has never been here. Auburn is the finest village on the Plains! When I’m giving tours as a student recruiter, I always point out my favorite plac- es based on the memories I’ve made there. Auburn is a beau- tiful little city, but the physical place is not why thousands of alumni, students and faculty love it so much. Auburn is special because of the Auburn family’s culture of support, love and mutual helpfulness. HOMECOMING COURT 2023 AUBURNTIGERS.COMGOOD FOR YOU. GREAT FOR ALABAMA.
