ESPN2 will televise the 6:30 p.m. CT non- conference matchup. n Fans are asked to wear navy blue. The 2024 SEC champion equestrian team will be honored along with the 2024 Homecoming Court. n Auburn has an 85-8-4 Homecoming record since the first game was played in 1924 on old Drake Field. The Tigers have won their last 32 Homecoming games, including a 45-13 win over Samford last year. SERIES HISTORY n This is the first meeting between Auburn and New Mexico on the gridiron. New Mexico is the 91st team of 133 current FBS members that Auburn has played. Of the 90 FBS teams Auburn has played previously, the Tigers have defeated 84 at least once; the only exceptions: Minnesota, Oklahoma, Rice, SMU, South Florida and Texas Tech. n Auburn holds a 6-0 record against current members of the Mountain West Conference. KICKOFF COVERAGE n It’s the first time in two years, and just the fifth time ever, the Tigers open the season with five straight home games (1982, 2005, 2016, 2022 and 2024). n Auburn is tied for eighth nationally and tied for second in the SEC with 19.0 TFL this season. n Preseason all-SEC Tigers as selected by the league’s coaches include running back Jarquez Hunter, kick returner Keionte Scott, linebacker Eugene Asante and place kicker Alex McPherson. n Ninety-four Tigers saw action against Alabama A&M, 47 of them for the first time at Auburn. n The Tigers have 800 all-time wins, 13th-most among FBS schools. n Auburn’s Homecoming parade is Friday at 6 p.m. through downtown Auburn with a pep rally and concert to follow on Samford Lawn. n The 70-point win over Alabama A&M was a Jordan-Hare Stadium record, breaking the old record margin of 66 set against Chattanooga in 1995 (76-10) and ULM in 2003 (73-7). n Captains for 2024 are Eugene Asante, Luke Deal, Jerrin Thompson and Payton Thorne. Deal is a two-year captain, while Thorne, twice captain at Michigan State, is one of three current four-year FBS captains, along with Utah’s Cameron Rising and Arkansas State’s Justin Parks. IN SEPTEMBER n Auburn is 187-63-5 (.743) all-time in the month of September. The Tigers are 120-25-1 (.825) all-time at home in September, and 67- 38-4 (.631) away from Auburn in that month. n Since 1970, the Tigers have had a winning record in the month of September in 46 of 53 seasons. n The Tigers are 7-0 in games played on September 14 and 5-0 in Auburn on that date. New Mexico’s offense now has seven touchdowns this season, and Dampier has either run or thrown for all seven of them. n Last season, starting quarterback Dylan Hopkins was responsible for 12 TDs (11 throwing and one rushing) and Dampier is nearly to his total from last year of 10 (six throwing, four rushing). n Dampier threw for a career high 260 yards and rushed for a career high 130 yards. It marked the 30th time in school history that a quarterback has had a 100/100 game. The last was Trae Hall against Air Force in 2019. Dampier is the 17th player to have a 100/100 game. Dampier’s game was just the seventh a 200/100 game. It was the first since Kole McKamey threw for 218 yards and rushed for 103 yards against BYU on Oct. 8, 2005. A 200/100 game has only been done twice by two players in Lobo history, McKamey and Billy Rucker. JUST NEED ONE MORE n When Christian Ellis picked off a pass in the second quarter followed by an offensive score, it made UNM 3-for-3 on scoring touchdowns after turnovers this season. n After just two games, UNM is one touchdown away from equaling the number of touchdowns scored off turnovers last year when UNM scored 28 total points for the season. n The 21 points in the last two games is more than the combined total of the last 10 games of the 2023 season when UNM scored 14 points (all of those against Hawai’i). n Additionally, the Lobos have four takeaways this year, which is half of the number of takeaways from last year when UNM had eight total. WYSONG’S STRONG START n One week after setting a career high with 95 receiving yards, Luke Wysong had a career day with eight grabs for 129 yards against Arizona. Both numbers were career bests but his apex was on UNM’s first scoring drive, pulling in a third- and-20 pass between two defenders and then grabbing a 15-yard scoring strike, absorbing a big hit in the process. n Wysong now has 224 yards on 15 catches through two games. As a true freshman in 2021, Luke led the Lobos in receptions with 24, and in receiving yards with 224. POWER 4 FUN n After taking on Arizona, UNM is facing back-to-back Power 4 opponents when it takes on Auburn. n It marks the first time UNM will take on two Power 4 teams in the same season since 2015 when UNM lost to Arizona State in the regular season 34-10 and then to Arizona in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl 45-37. n The last time UNM faced off with two such opponents in the regular season was in 2012 when UNM in Bob Davie’s first season lost to Texas (45-0) and Texas Tech (49-14) in back- to-back weeks.
