College St. (334) 209-1140GET TO KNOW: EMMA WEHRY 7 Hometown: Klingerstown, PA Previous School: West Virginia Year: Junior Q: What was your first visit to Auburn like? What about Auburn made you want to come here? My first visit to Auburn was really special and allowed me to see my aspirations and goals as an achievable reality. As a transfer, I knew what I was looking for in both a program and in a university as a whole. Auburn instantly felt like the right place to be. The coaching staff, the girls, the culture and the mission of the program aligned with what I was looking for. I knew it was the right choice as soon as I visited. Q: What Auburn traditions are your favorite, and why? My favorite Auburn tradition is swag surfing because it is so much fun. It definitely has been the highlight of all sporting events I’ve been to so far. Q: What or who keeps you motivated on the hard days? My teammates keep me motivated on hard days! They are the best support system and always keep a smile on my face in and out of the gym. Q: What’s your favorite home-cooked meal? My favorite home cooked meal is steak and homemade French fries. Q: What hobbies do you enjoy outside of gymnastics? I enjoy hanging out with friends, going to coffee shops, reading, watching tv shows and movies, and drawing. Q: What advice would you give youngerstudents as they work hard to be collegiate gymnasts? My number one piece of advice is to push yourself and relentlessly work hard in pursuit of your goals because you can do a lot more than your mind thinks you can. Don’t set limits on yourself and if you want to do something or accomplish something, go for it because you never know where it will take you. Lastly, don’t fear messing up or failure, but learn from your mistakes and use them as a motivator to do better next time to get you to where you want to be. Q: What was your dream job as a kid? My dream job as a kid was to own my own coffee shop near the beach. This is still my dream job today! Q: If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why? My superpower would be teleportation. I love to travel and visit new places and I also have a lot of close friends in many areas of the country, so it would be really nice to be able to teleport and be in a new place in a matter of seconds.
