SERIES HISTORY n In this 88th Iron Bowl, Auburn and Alabama will meet for the 76th consecutive year since 1948. Auburn trails the overall series by a 37-49-1 record. Auburn leads the Iron Bowl 17-13 when the game is played on campus and the Tigers lead 10-6 in games played at Auburn. Before 1989, the series was primarily played in Birmingham (Alabama leads 36-20-1) and Montgomery (series tied 2-2). n Auburn has an all-time record of 53-70-7 in regular-season finales since 1892. The Tigers are 87-30-6 all-time in the final game played in Auburn each season. KICKOFF COVERAGE n The Tigers are seeking their 800th win in program history; they would be just the 13th FBS team to reach that mark. Auburn is 799-465-47 in 131 years of football. n Auburn leads the SEC in red zone defense (.778). Auburn is third in the SEC in third-down defense (.309) and fourth in scor- ing defense (21.5) and pass efficiency defense (127.84). n The Tigers are tied with Arkansas for the lead in the SEC in turnovers forced with 17 (11 interceptions, 6 fumbles recovered). n Lou Groza Award semifinalist Alex McPher- son’s current string of 18 consecutive made field goals broke Daniel Carlson’s Auburn record (16). n With four interceptions, Jaylin Simpson, a Jim Thorpe Award semifinalist, is among the nation- al FBS leaders in picks per game this season. The Crimson Tide owns a 49-37-1 all-time advantage in the series, which is the oldest in program history, dating back to 1893. Saturday‘s matchup will be just the 17th overall pairing on the Plains, with the Tigers holding a 10-6 advantage on their campus. n Alabama head coach Nick Saban is 13-8 all-time against Auburn, including an 11-5 mark with the Crimson Tide. Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze is 2-3 for his career against Alabama with all five matchups coming during his time at Ole Miss. QUICK NOTES n The 66-10 win over Chattanooga on Nov. 18 was Alabama’s 10th of the 2023 campaign. The victory over the Mocs secured the Tide’s 16th consecutive 10-win season, adding to Alabama’s NCAA record for the most 10-win seasons in a row. The previous record was 14 straight 10-win campaigns by Florida State and head coach Bobby Bowden from 1987- 2000. n Alabama’s 49-21 win at Kentucky on Nov. 11 clinched the program’s 18th SEC Western Division title (15th outright). The Crimson Tide will go on to represent the Western Division against SEC Eastern Division champion Georgia in the SEC Championship Game on Dec. 2 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. n Head coach Nick Saban owns an 89-35-1 (.716) record in road games across his four career stops, including a 61-12 (.836) mark while at Alabama. Saban owns a 69-19 (.784) mark in SEC road games across his time at LSU and Alabama, including a 57-11 (.838) record with the Crimson Tide. n Alabama’s No. 8 ranking in the Week 13 release of the Associated Press Poll marked the 258th consecutive week that the Crimson Tide has appeared in the poll. That streak is the longest active streak in college football. n Jalen Milroe has responded in a big way the last eight weeks since losing his starting job for the USF game. The redshirt sophomore has led Alabama to eight straight victories, including seven SEC wins, three of which came against top- 25 teams. Since his return to the lineup, Milroe is averaging 227.3 passing yards per game (1,818 total) while completing 68.1 percent (115-169) of his passes and accounting for 24 total touchdowns (14 passing). n Jermaine Burton has emerged as a big-play threat for the Crimson Tide this season. The senior leads UA with 642 yards and six touchdowns on 29 receptions. A total of 17 of his receptions have converted a first down while Burton averages 22.1 yards per reception to lead the SEC and rank fifth nationally in that category. n Through 11 games, Dallas Turner has accumulated 42 total tackles, including a team-high 10.5 for loss (-69 yards) and seven sacks (-55 yards). Turner’s seven sacks are tied for fourth in the SEC and 12th nationally while his 0.64 sacks per game average is also tied for fourth in the conference. He is also ranked in the top-10 in the league for TFLs.
