Iowa defeated LSU, 30-25, as time expired on Jan. 1, 2005. n Iowa enters the game having won three consecutive bowl games. the hawkeyes are 17-15- 1 all-time in bowl games. n This will be the first meeting between Iowa and Kentucky. The Hawkeyes are are 6-5 all-time in bowl games against current SEC opponents. n Iowa ranks third among Big Ten teams in bowl appearances since 2001. They are 9-8 in bowl games under Kirk Ferentz. Since 2001, only Ohio State and Wisconsin have won more bowl games than the Hawkeyes. n Center Tyler Linderbaum was named the winner of this season’s Rimington Trophy which is awarded to the nation’s premier center in college football. Kroger Field (47,693) Game 1 Recap Will Levis passed for 367 yards and four touchdowns as Kentucky opened the season with a 45-10 win over Louisi- ana-Monroe at Kroger Field. Two Wildcats had more than 100 yards receiving in the game. Josh Ali had five receptions for 136 yards and a TD while Wan’Dale Robinson had five catches for 125 yards and two scores.
