In his six months serving as interim ath- letic director, Heird hired UofL’s popular new men’s basketball coach, Kenny Payne; established an NIL department within ath- letics; addressed educational payments for student-athletes beginning this fall; and worked with UofL staff to plan for an operating budget for the 2022-23 year that exceeds a record $114 million. Heird has more than 13 years experi- ence in athletics administration at UofL and at Villanova University. He worked at UofL from 2007 to 2016, including four years as assistant athletic director for championships and facilities. In that role, he helped design and oversee construction of the Jim Patterson Baseball Stadium expansion, the Ulmer Softball Stadium expansion, the building of the Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Soccer Stadium, the lacrosse stadium press box, as well as the Thorntons Academic Center of Excellence. He also assisted with the day-to-day man- agement of facility operations. Heird was responsible for management of all ACC and NCAA postseason events hosted by UofL, including the 2015 and 2012 men’s and women’s cross country national champion- ships, the 2015 and 2012 men’s basketball second and third rounds, the 2014 wom- en’s basketball regional, the 2012 women’s volleyball national championship and the 2012 field hockey national championship. He then served as senior associate ath- letics director/chief athletics operating offi- cer at Villanova in 2018-19 after operating nearly two years as associate athletic direc- tor for internal operations and finance. In those roles, he provided leadership for all internal units of the athletic department and had administrative oversight with finance and budget, capital projects, ticket and equipment operation, food service, camps and overall project and event management. He also was the sport administrator for the men’s lacrosse and men’s soccer programs, as well as the secondary administrator for men’s basketball. Villanova won the nation- al championship in basketball in 2018. He returned to UofL in 2019 as dep- uty athletic director, serving as the sport administrator for baseball, men’s basket- ball and football, as well as providing administrative oversight for champion- ships, facilities/events, capital projects and equipment operations. He also provided sport oversight for men’s and women’s golf and men’s and women’s swimming and diving. Heird is married to the former Abbey Wooley. The couple has two chil- dren, Hadley and Gus. JOSH HEIRD VICE-PRESIDENT/DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICSKrista Wallace-Boaz Faculty Athletics Representative Krista Wallace-Boaz joined the UofL School of Music faculty in Fall of 2000. Appointed by the President as the Faculty Athletics Rep- resentative beginning July 1, 2020, she is currently Asso- ciate Dean of the School of Music and Professor of Piano and Pedagogy. From 2016-2018 she served as Vice-Chair of the University of Louisville Athletics Association Board of Directors and from 2018-2020 she served as chair of the Faculty Senate (2018- 2020), ex-officio on the UofL Foundation Board of Directors, and Faculty Trustee on the University of Louisville Board of Trustees. A current ACC Fellow, Krista completed the ACC Academic Leaders Net- work program in Spring of 2020. A native of Somerset, Kentucky, Krista received the University of Louisville’s Distinguished Faculty Award for Service in 2013. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from the Uni- versity of Louisville, a Master of Music in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from Northwestern University, and a Doctor of Music in Piano Perfor- mance and Pedagogy from Northwestern Univer- sity. Krista also holds three certificates from the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in St. Petersburg, Russia. She has appeared in concerts across the United States as well as England, Austria, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Russia and Scotland. In addition to her work at UofL, Krista also serves as the Director of Operations for the Chamber Mu- sic Society of Louisville, is the Southern Division Composition Coordinator for MTNA Competitions, and the State Coordinator for the MTNA Composi- tion Competition. John Carns Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance John Carns is in his 25th year with the Cardinals and his 13th as Senior Associate Ath- letic Director for Compliance. He served seven years as Associate Athletic Director for Compliance after serving as UofL’s Director of Compliance for four years. Carns is responsible for the development and implementation of the University’s policies and pro- cedures in accordance with NCAA, ACC and Uni- versity regulations. He currently serves on the ACC Men’s Tennis Committee. Carns joined the UofL staff in August of 1998 after nearly two years assisting in the compliance of- fice at the University of Miami (Fla.). Prior to his roles in athletics, Carns worked in government for the City of Binghamton (N.Y.). He was a community relations assistant for the mayor’s office (1986-88), an economic development assistant for two years (1988-90), the Highway Safety Program Director (1990-91) and a risk manager/paralegal of the Office of the Corporation Counsel (1991-93). Carns earned a B.A. in Communications at State University College at Oswego (N.Y.) in 1985. He graduated with a juris doctor from the Thomas Cool- ey Law School in Lansing, Mich., in 1996, the same year he was admitted to the New York State Bar. He also earned a master’s degree in sports administra- tion at St. Thomas University in Miami, Fla. in 1997. A native of Binghamton, N.Y., Carns and his wife Patti have two children: Luke and Payton Ann. Derek Cowherd Senior Associate Athletic Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Derek Cowherd, a for- mer University of Louisville football student-athlete with nearly 20 years of experi- ence in athletic administra- tion, joined the Cardinal Ath- letics staff as Associate Athletic Director for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in November 2021. The new position within the UofL Athletics senior leadership team will elevate and oversee department-wide strategic initiatives to foster the im- provement of diversity, equity and inclusion within the Athletic Department across all constituencies, including student athletes, staff, and the broader uni- versity community. The position will serve as the athletic depart- ment’s Chief Diversity Officer and will develop, facilitate, and implement DEI initiatives and pro- gramming for UofL Athletics that aligns with the department’s goals and core beliefs, as well as the University’s Cardinal Principles and strategic plan. Cowherd will be responsible for strategically part- nering with the University’s Office of Diversity and Equity, internal and external contacts to provide edu- cation and advocacy related to DEI, and provides expert guidance and leadership to all organizational levels to resolve significant and complex issues. Cowherd’s most recent experience has been as a senior consultant since April with Third Eye Con- sulting Group, an Indianapolis-based firm with an emphasis on improving organizational and cultural understanding through equity-minded and culturally- responsive awareness and leadership competencies. The firm’s clients have included Pacers Sports and Entertainment, Capital One, American Red Cross, In- dianapolis Colts, and Northwestern University. Prior to his role with Third Eye, Cowherd spent nearly three years at Ohio State as the Executive Di- rector for Student-Athlete Support Services Offices & Senior Associate Athletics Director (2018-21). During his tenure, OSU student-athletes achieved record-high 3.36 cumulative GPA, and academic progress single year rate with an overall score of 995 for all thirty-six sports combined. Cowherd served as the senior associate athletics director for student-athlete development at Ole Miss for six years (2012-18), where he helped to develop a variety of programs related to the academic suc- cess of student-athletes, pushing the graduation suc- cess rate to a school-best 86 percent while achieving four consecutive overall GPA’s above 3.00 for the department for the first in school history. Before heading to Mississippi, Cowherd was the director of academic affairs at LSU, a position he assumed in 2011 after joining LSU’s Academic Center for Student-Athletes in 2007. His primary role at LSU was academic oversight of the Tiger football team while supervising seven full-time advisors and other sports staff. Cowherd began his career in athletic administra- tion at UofL, first, as a student-athlete, then graduate assistant, academic counselor, and ultimately as the assistant director for academics in athletics. Cowherd, who competed with the Cardinals football program as a linebacker from 1994-96, earned a Bachelor of Arts in Pre-Med Biology from UofL in 1998 and completed his Master of Busi- ness and Public Administration in 2003. A native of Greensburg, Ky., Cowherd and his wife Misty have two children, Jackson and Eden. Marvin Mitchell Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student Services and Diversity Marvin Mitchell has 30 years of athletic administra- tion experience and is in his 23rd year as a member of the Cardinal Athletics senior ad- ministration. Mitchell serves as the department’s chief diver- sity officer and has oversight of academic services, continuing eligibility, student development, student- athlete programming and Thorntons Academic Center of Excellence (TACE) operations. He is the sport ad- ministrator for the Cardinals’ track & field and cross country programs. Mitchell was the school’s first Associate Ath- letic Director in the area of academics. He joined the athletic administration staff in December 1999 as Assistant Athletic Director of Academic Services after three years at East Carolina, where he directed their student development program. Prior to his stint at ECU, Mitchell worked five years at his alma mater Wake Forest in many roles, including serving as as- sistant director of academic services from 1994-96. Under Mitchell’s leadership, academic success for student-athletes has flourished at UofL. More than half of all student-athletes are consistently named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for maintaining a 3.0 grade point average each semester. Graduation rates for student-athletes have improved to all-time highs. Computer access, tutorial services, objective-based study halls and a new student retention program are among the significant advancements since his arrival. A four-year football letterman for Wake Forest University (1987-91), Mitchell is an accomplished speaker and has addressed the National Associa- tion of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A) National Conventions, NCAA Life Skills National Convention, Nike All-America Camps and various universities, high schools and grade schools. Active in the community, Mitchell has served on various boards including 100 Black Men of Ameri- ca, Clear Channel Communications, Amobi Okoye Foundation, National Collegiate 100 and Chestnut Street YMCA. He is a member of Minority Opportuni- ties Athletic Association (MOAA), Institute for Sport and Social Justice (Institute SSJ) and the N4A. He also serves as the primary advisor for the Collegiate 100, a mentoring organization he chartered at UofL in 2004. A native of Eastville, Va., Mitchell graduated from Northampton High School and continued his educa- tion at Wake Forest University, where he earned both his bachelor’s (1992) and master’s (1995) degrees. In his current role, Banker serves as sport administrator for Men’s Soccer, Women’s Lacrosse, and Women’s Rowing. Banker leads the University’s Name/Image/Likeness (NIL) initiatives, operations, and strategy in support of UofL student- athletes. Banker serves on U of L’s Tuition and Fees Task Force and has represented UofL on the ACC’s Men’s Soccer Committee and ACC Constitution & Bylaws Committee, and ACC NIL Working Group. Prior to joining UofL, he served as the Ohio Val- ley Conference Assistant Commissioner from January 2010 to October 2013. At the OVC, Banker oversaw the OVC’s compliance, academics, NLI, governance and other conference operations. He also served as the sport administrator for OVC men’s and women’s tennis. Banker served on the NCAA Division I Legislative Council from 2010-2013 and was elected Legislative Council chair for 2013-14. Banker also served on the NCAA Division I Subcommittee on Legislative Re- lief and the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision Governance Subcommittee. Banker served as the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs at the Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis from 2008-09. . Banker served on the Dean’s senior leadership team and law school’s ABA self-study committee. Prior to working at the IU School of Law, Banker worked at the NCAA from 2002-08, first as the As- sociate Director of Membership Services and later at the NCAA Eligibility Center as the Associate Director of Academic Review. His responsibilities with the NCAA included drafting NCAA legislation and publications. Banker also served as staff liaison to several NCAA commit- tees and councils. Banker received his Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from the University of St. Thomas (MN) in 1997. A member of the Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society, Banker was a three-time letter winner for the Tommies’ football team. Banker received his Juris Doctorate from the Marquette University Law School in May 2001. Banker volunteers with the Louisville Leopard Per- cussionists and the Big Brothers-Big Sisters program. He is a member of the Wisconsin State Bar, the Na- tional Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC) and NACDA. Banker has taught sports law and com- pliance courses at Belmont University’s School of Law and UofL’s Sport Administration Graduate School and has appeared on several national sports law and col- lege athletics panels and symposiums related to col- lege sports governance, NIL, and policy. Amy Calabrese Associate Athletic Director/Senior Woman Administrator Amy Calabrese, a former UofL student-athlete and member of the UofL staff since 2007, was elevated to Associate Athletic Director in July 2019 and designated as the Senior Woman Administrator in November 2020. Calabrese oversees the sport administration team and serves as the primary sport administrator for women’s basketball, volleyball, and women’s soc- cer. In addition, Calabrese is the athletic department liaison with several campus entities, including the Dean of Student’s office, Title IX office and Hous- ing. She serves on several conference committees, including the ACC Women’s Basketball Committee, ACC Field Hockey Committee and ACC Women’s Soccer Committee. In addition to these ACC Com- mittees, she serves as an ACC representative on two Alliance Committees; the Olympic Scheduling and Sport Committee and the Social Impact and Respon- sibility Committee. Prior to her current role in senior management, she had served as Assistant Athletic Director for six years and gain sport administrator experience with a variety of sport programs at Louisville. Calabrese op- erated as Director of Student-Athlete Development at UofL from May of 2010 until her administrative appointment in 2013. Her duties included develop- ing and implementing UofL’s life skills program for student-athletes, including leadership development, educational programming, and career education. She served as advisor for the Student-Athlete Advi- sory Committee. She worked nearly three years as assistant direc- tor of student-athlete development and champion- ships from 2007-10. In that role, she aided in UofL’s efforts in serving as host for conference and NCAA championships, event management, community outreach projects and life skills program. Calabrese joined the UofL staff as a graduate assistant in devel- opment in 2007. Calabrese was a four-year letter winner for the Cardinals’ soccer team from 2003-06, earning Aca- demic All-American honors as a junior and senior. The stellar defender started all 77 matches of her ca- reer, playing every minute of every game but one as a junior, as the Cardinals won 43 games over her four years. A team captain her last two years, she was an All-Conference USA third-team selection as a sopho- more after coming to UofL from Centennial, Colo. She earned her bachelor’s degree in sport ad- ministration with a minor in business administration from UofL in 2007 and went on to earn a master’s degree in business administration, also from UofL, in 2009. She is a graduate of Ignite Louisville and Lead- ership Louisville. She is also a member of Women Leaders in College Sports, and graduate of both their Institute for Administrative Advancement and Lead- ership Executive Institute. Calabrese is a 2021 gradu- ate of the selective NCAA Pathways Program. She and her husband Rich have three children, Jack, Colin and William. Laura Clemente Associate Athletic Director, Strategy & Innovation Laura Clemente, who worked in digital marketing at UofL for six seasons, was elevated to Associate Athlet- ic Director for Strategy and Innovation. In her position, Clem- ente leads the development and execution of key strategic initiatives across department-wide digital platforms and serve as a cross-functional visionary/ change agent across the athletics department. Using a data-driven approach, she is responsible for de- veloping and implementing platform-specific strate- gies to increase customer acquisition and retention, leading the organization’s web and app evolvement, implementing a targeted and automated ticket and ecommerce strategy, and partnering across the orga- nization to identify emerging technology opportuni- ties to benefit the brand, UofL partners and Cardinal fans as the priority. A native of Madison, N.J., Clemente operated the last two years on the UofL Athletics staff as As- sistant Athletic Director for Multimedia and Content after serving four years as the Cardinals’ Director of Digital Marketing. She earned a master’s degree in business analytics from UofL in 2020. Clemente has led the digital transformation of the athletic department, guiding the creative and media teams in expanding the brand, while increasing the social media followers to over a million on all plat- forms. Prior to joining UofL, Clemente worked seven seasons with the New York Jets in the National Foot- ball League. Beginning as a social media intern in 2009, Clemente worked one season as a communi- cation assistant and three years as the communica- tions coordinator. She moved to the digital side in 2014, where she served as the Digital Media Man- ager in 2014-15, coordinating the execution of the organization’s marketing calendars, as well as the distribution of breaking news announcements and transactions. Clemente played four seasons of lacrosse at Northwestern where she graduated in 2009 with a degree in communications and international studies. Michael Dudas Associate Athletic Director for Development and Tickets A member of the Car- dinals’ athletic staff for 14 years, Michael Dudas is in his fifth year as Associate Athletic Director for Devel- opment and Tickets. Dudas joined the Cardinal Athletic Fund staff in July 2008 and rose to Assistant Athletic Director in 2015 until his current role. He gained oversight of the Cardinal Athletic Fund in 2018 when assuming the Associate Athletic Director senior leadership po- sition with the Cardinals. Dudas oversees the administration, operations, planning and implementation of all annual giving and fundraising initiatives within UofL Athletics. He also has oversight of the Cardinals’ ticket operations and sales. A native of Hopkinsville, Ky., he earned a bach- elor’s degree in business management in 2006 from Austin Peay State University, where he competed on the Governor’s basketball team. He was a member of APSU’s 2002-03 team which won the Ohio Valley Conference championship and faced Louisville in the NCAA Tournament first round. His APSU 2003- 04 team won the OVC regular season title with a perfect 16-0 league record and advanced to the NIT. Dudas earned his master’s degree in sport admin- istration from UofL in 2009. He and his wife Katie have three sons: Connor, Parker and Chase. Dr. Patrick Ivey Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Health and Performance Dr. Pat Ivey, who has over 20 years of collegiate experience in athletic perfor- mance roles, joined the UofL staff as Associate Athletic Director for Student Athlete Health and Performance in January of 2019. Prior to coming to Louisville, Ivey worked the previous two years at Arkansas State, where he served as Assistant Athletics Director of Athletics Performance for a year. He was the Director of Mental Performance at Arkansas State in 2017. Ivey also served as the Associate Athletics Director for Athletic Performance at Missouri from 2011-15 and was named the National Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year by FootballScoop.com in 2013. He served as the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Access and Leadership Development at Missouri for 18 months from 2016-17. A former Missouri football letterwinner (1993- 95), Ivey was selected as an All-American Strength and Conditioning Athlete in 1995. After receiving his undergraduate degree in 1996 in Hotel and Restaurant Management with an emphasis in nutri- tion, he spent time in the NFL with the Detroit Lions, San Diego Chargers, Denver Broncos and Green Bay Packers for four seasons from 1996-1999. He completed his Master’s in Health Education with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction in 2000 while serving as a graduate assistant director of strength and conditioning at Missouri. Ivey returned to Missouri in 2004 in the role of Director of Strength and Conditioning after serv- ing in the same capacity at Tulsa from 2002-03. There, he oversaw strength and conditioning efforts for all 18 sports and was part of the resurgence of the football program, which had the nation’s best turnaround in 2003. Tulsa went 8-5 in 2003 after producing a 1-11 record in the prior year. Ivey earned his Ph.D. in sports psychology from Missouri in 2013. He is a Master Strength and Con- ditioning Coach (MSCC) and a Strength and Condi- tioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the CSCCa. Additionally, he is a Certified Strength and Condi- tioning Specialist (CSCS), a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and an accomplished speaker on sports performance. Originally from Detroit, Mich., Ivey and his wife Dr. Starla Ivey have two daughters: Paisli and Serena. Michael Ortman Associate Athletic Director of Facilities & Game Operations Michael Ortman was elevated to Associate Ath- letic Director of Facilities & Game Operations in July 2019 after five years as UofL’s Stadiums Manager. In this new role, Ortman oversees the facility and game operations staffs for all home events along with the grounds staff that maintain the turf areas both inside and outside all athletic facilities. Recently, Ortman had oversight with the two- year expansion of Cardinal Stadium and the football facility that was completed prior to the 2018 football season. Before coming to the UofL, Ortman worked 17 years at Soldier Field in Chicago, serving as the Director of Operations for his final 12 years there. He oversaw the facility’s operations encompassing the 98 acres of park land, parking structures and sta- dium. He coordinated the operational needs for the more than 225 events held annually in and around the stadium. Overseeing and coordinating the staff of over 250 trades, cleaning, landscaping and facility operations staff were part of Ortman’s focus. Additional responsibilities included the stadium life safety, operating systems and as the lead contact for all media needs for the facility for every event. On an annual basis, Ortman created and over- saw the stadium’s annual capital improvement pro- gram that accounted for projects that were done to maintain the original 1924 historic structure along with projects to continue to keep Soldier Field on the cutting edge of technology and fan amenities. During Ortman’s tenure, Soldier Field was rec- ognized as the first stadium in the country to receive the certification of LEED-EB through the United States Green Building Council. Between 2005 and 2014, Ortman was a part of 10 Super Bowls, working as the AFC team coordina- tor ensuring team access and needs were met both on the sidelines and in the locker room for the NFL. He earned his degree in animal science in 1995 and his master’s in business administration in 1997, both from Western Illinois. Ortman and his wife Christine have three children: Samantha, Madison and Austin. Jeff Spoelker Associate Athletic Director, Finance Jeff Spoelker, who was elevated to Associate Athlet- ic Director Finance in 2019 after two years as assistant athletic director for business & finance, is in his 14th year with UofL Athletics and 24th year with the University overall. He returned to UofL after serving as a senior financial analyst for the Louisville Water Com- pany from October 2007 through November 2008. Spoelker was responsible for developing the annual operating budget and monitoring expenditures for various segments of the company. He assisted with the annual audit in addition to aiding with financial forecasting. In 1997, Spoelker joined UofL as the policy and budget analyst in the Office of Budget & Financial Planning. In his role, he was tasked with develop- ment, oversight and administration of approximately $125 million of the University’s budget, which included the athletics association and the UofL Foundation. Among his duties over a 10-year period, he conducted financial analysis and research, finan- cial forecasting, and prepared management reports for top-level officials to include the school’s presi- dent and provost. Prior to his first stop at UofL, he served as a grant writer and comprehensive planner for two years with the Kentucky Regional Planning and Development Agency. Spoelker assisted government entities and nonprofit organizations with researching and writing federal, state and foundation grants. The Louisville native graduated from Dayton, where he ran cross country for two years, in 1990 with his bachelor’s degree in political sci- ence. Spoelker continued his education at Kentucky, where he earned his master’s degree in public administration in 1993. Spoelker secured his certifi- cate in accountancy from Louisville in 2007. He is married to the former Alex Gallitelli, and they reside in Louisville with their sons Nicholas and Peter. Lottie Stockwell Associate Athletic Direc- tor, Marketing Lottie Stockwell is in her fourth year as UofL’s Asso- ciate Athletic Director for Marketing after serving for more than three years as the department’s Assistant Athletic Director for Brand Marketing & Licensing. With over 20 years of experience leading and developing brand/marketing campaigns, Stockwell and her team are responsible for overall brand mar- keting, brand partnerships and comprehensive fan experience for the Louisville athletic department. Before joining the Louisville staff, Stockwell spent 10 years at Power Creative in Louisville as the Director of Account Service, where she served as the brand steward for the UofL and Churchill Downs Racetrack, two of the agency’s top clients. She was responsible for the overall agency performance with each account, ensuring financial goals attainment, development of multiple agency/client relationships, while coaching and mentoring a team of account service staff members. Prior to Power Creative, Stockwell served five years as the Account Executive at Red7E, a local advertising agency, which handled the marketing for Churchill Downs, Inc., and all member race tracks. She handled the project management of all creative development for broadcast, digital, print, collateral and customer relationship marketing materials. A 2000 graduate of Kentucky with an integrated strategic communications degree, Stockwell worked two years as a marketing specialist at Lexmark International, where she operated in concert with multiple advertising agencies for creative develop- ment of all new product launch materials, including packaging. Stockwell has two children, Cooper and Geor- gia. Brad Barber Assistant Athletic Director for Ticket Operations Brad Barber is in his 32nd year as Assistant Ath- letic Director for Ticket Op- erations after serving as the Assistant Ticket Manager for three seasons with UofL. Barber coordinates all football and basketball season ticket sales, along with ticketing for all single game and post-season events. He also coordinated all ticket sales for the expansion of Cardinal Stadium as well as for the KFC Yum! Center. The UofL football team has maintained a substantial season ticket base including reaching over 45,000 in season ticket sales often since 2010. UofL’s men’s basketball has drawn well regularly in the 22,000-seat KFC Yum Center. While at Rio Grande College, he served as an assistant bas- ketball coach from 1982-1986. Upon completion of his schooling, he completed an internship at the Uni- versity of North Carolina in the athletic ticket office. He has been married to the former Kim Morgan for the last 35 years. They have three children, all UofL graduates: Ryan, Kyle and Catie. Megan Edwards Assistant Athletic Director for Development Megan Edwards, a mem- ber of the UofL Athletics Development staff since July 2015, is in her third year as Assistant Athletic Director for Development. Edwards oversees the major gifts solicitations for the Cardinal Athletic Fund, and assists in all aspects of administration and planning for the development staff. She came to UofL from Bowling Green State University where she was a member of the Falcon’s athletics development staff. While at Bowling Green, she completed her masters in sports administration from BGSU in 2014 after earning a bachelor’s degree in sport management from Bowling Green in 2009. Originally from St. Paul, Minn., Edwards was a member of the Bowling Green State women’s golf team from 2006-09. She is married to former Lou- isville men’s soccer goalkeeper Charlie Edwards and they have one son, Gavin. Jennifer Hanson Assistant Athletic Director for Fan Experience Jen Hanson is in her fourth season as Assistant Athletic Director for Fan Ex- perience, after serving as the Cardinals’ Director of Game Production and Fan Experi- ence for two years. Hanson leads gameday production of all foot- ball, men’s basketball and women’s basketball events, as well as overseeing all Olympic sports game production related to the in-house show, including videoboards, bands, spirit squads and on-field promotions. In addition to gameday, she also leads production of all in-house special events, banquets, kickoffs, fan parties and donor events. She coordinates with Louisville Sports Properties to ensure in-game sponsorship fulfillment at the highest level. In addition, she oversees the team marketing, and video departments. Prior to UofL, Hanson was the Director of Mar- keting at Washington State University, overseeing all marketing aspects of football, men’s & women’s basketball, baseball, women’s soccer, tennis and golf during her six years in the Pac 12. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University in Washington, DC, and an MBA from Southwest Min- nesota State University. Diego Insuasty Assistant Athletic Director for Strategy and Innovation Diego Insuasty came to UofL Athletics in August of 2018. As a part of CAF, Insuas- ty solicits major gifts for cap- ital campaigns and special projects as well premium seating for football and basketball. A native of Floral Park, N.Y., Insuasty came to Louisville from the New York Mets where he served as manager of premium services for over 10 seasons. He graduated from Marist College where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Alyssa Murphy Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Leader- ship & Development Alyssa Murphy is in her 18th year at the University of Louisville, including the last seven years with Cardi- nal Athletics, while currently serving as Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Leadership and Devel- opment. Murphy joined UofL in 2005, working with new student orientation, undergraduate recruitment, merit-based scholarships, and campus visit programs in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Murphy transitioned into athletics in February 2016 as the Director of Student-Athlete Leader- ship and Development, focusing on working with student-athletes to increase and strengthen their leadership skills, develop personal life skills, pre- pare for internship opportunities, create career and graduate school plans, engage in community service and mentorship, and a commitment to social justice and advocacy. All these components are part of the Beyond the Buzzer programming model. A native of Sacramento, CA, Murphy earned her undergraduate degree in political science at San Diego State University in 1998, followed by a Master of Science in College Student Personnel from Miami (Ohio) University in 2000. Murphy has been working with undergraduate students for more than 20 years at Miami, Rollins College (Fla.), Emory University (Ga.) and UofL. Alyssa, and her husband Bill, have three chil- dren: Sammy, Hannah, and Zachary. Jeremy Noe Assistant Athletic Director for Television Production A member of the UofL Athletics staff since 2014, Jeremy Noe was elevated to Assistant Athletic Director for Television Production in July 2021. Noe joined UofL in its inaugural year in the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2014, starting UofL’s Cards TV operation with a 26-foot TV production mobile unit producing about 80 sports broadcasts annually for ESPN3, digital productions which have evolved into ACC Network Extra telecasts. Noe oversees all live event television productions and in-venue video boards for all UofL athletic events. He serves as executive producer for UofL events on the ACC Network and other ESPN platforms, and manages the UofL Athletics Broadcast Center, the $8 million facility completed in August 2018 to support the ACC Network which launched a year later. Noe started his professional career as a camera operator in 1995 and performed in many televi- sion production positions from producer, director, technical director, audio, replay and graphics. He has worked as a creative services producer for ABC affiliates and has been an operations manager in two top 50 television markets. Before joining the UofL staff, Noe was living on the road as a full-time free- lancer/contractor for the ESPN family of Networks, Fox Sports, CBS Sports, NBC Sports Raycom Sports, and the SPEED Channel. Noe is a 2001 graduate of Western Kentucky University with a bachelor of arts, humanities and a social sciences degree in broadcast communications with an emphasis in television production. A native of Elizabethtown, Ky., he is married to the former Carrie Mattingly. He has three stepchildren: Thomas Noe, Carra Cissell and Sarah Burtram. Justin Ruffin Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Services A veteran administrator, Justin Ruffin enters his 18th year working in intercolle- giate athletics and serves as the sport administrator for the men’s and women’s ten- nis programs. Ruffin is on the senior staff leadership team, participant and a mem- ber of several campus wide committees and orga- nizations including the university’s Strategically Or- ganizing Against Racism (S.O.A.R.) Committee, Bias Response Team, Name Image and Likeness Board, and Committee on Academic Performance (CAP). At the conference level, Ruffin serves on the ACC C.O.R.E. (Champions of Racial Equity) committee by representing the University of Louisville and collabo- rating with other ACC administrators to drive unity and inclusion across the institutions. He is also the Chair of the ACC Women’s Tennis Committee where he addresses committee issues during the senior woman administrator meetings and assists the Con- ference liaison with various logistical, operational, and administrative issues that may arise during the Women’s ACC tennis tournament. Ruffin is also responsible for managing and re- viewing initial and continuing eligibility, along with the weekly academic progress and support for the football team, men’s soccer, and women’s volleyball team. Additionally, he monitors community and ca- reer services for those sports, while also supervising the learning specialist’s and coordinating professional development opportunities for the graduate assistants. Prior to the University of Louisville, Ruffin served five years at James Madison University. At JMU, Ruf- fin was responsible for the academic development, management, and coordination of football, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s swimming, wrestling, and men’s and women’s tennis programs. He assisted with developing and implementing aca- demic strategic plans and procedures for programs designed to cultivate both an environment that sup- ports elite performance and a first-class student-ath- lete experience that prepared them for life after sport. Ruffin is a former student-athlete at James Madi- son University, earning All-Conference recognition as a defensive back for the football team and letter- ing three years on the baseball team. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Science and Technology and later earned his Master of Science in Athletic Administration from JMU. A native of Norfolk, Va., Ruffin is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc, the National Associa- tion of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A), and the Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA). Justin and Erika have three sons Justin Jr, Jayson, and Joshua. . Lauren Rust Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance Lauren Rust is in her 15th year at the University of Louisville and her 12th with Cardinal Athletics, currently serving as Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance. Rust is responsible for the eligibility of initial and transfer student-athletes, as well as well as the financial aid for football, women’s basketball, men’s and women’s swim- ming and diving student-athletes, plus assisting in the eligibility of those continuing student-athletes, Academic Progress Rate (APR) and Graduation Suc- cess Rate (GSR) reports. She also serves as the sport administrator for the Cardinals’ men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs. She has worked the last three years in her current position after three years as UofL’s Director of Com- pliance. She joined the UofL athletics staff in August of 2011 after three years as Associate Director of Advising in the UofL College of Arts and Sciences. Prior to her arrival at UofL, Rust worked six years at the Thornton Athletics Student Life Center at the University of Tennessee. She was an Academic Ath- letic Counselor for women’s swimming, rowing and women’s golf (2002-05), as well as Assistant Director overseeing all academic counselors and serving as the primary academic counselor for men’s basketball and women’s volleyball (2005-08). Rust also worked a year in Membership Services for the NCAA as an intern in 2001-02. Rust earned a B.A. in Exercise Science at More- head State University (Ky.) in 1999. She graduated with a M.A. in Sport Administration at Morehead State in 2001 while serving as a graduate assistant in athletics. A native of Louisville, Rust and her husband Rich have two children: Garrett and Brynlee. Scott Sallade Assistant Athletic Director for Student Services Scott Sallade, Assistant Athletic Director for Student Services, is in his 26th year as a staff member of the Thorntons Academic Center of Excellence. He oversees the academic support for women’s soccer, softball and the spirit groups, in addition to other responsibilities, including sport administration, continuing eligibility and campus involvement. He has been at UofL since 1987 and has worked in several areas of the university including Housing and Residence Life, Admissions and Orientation and Intramural and Recreational Sports. He currently serves as a part-time instructor for the Health and Sport Sciences Department. Sallade earned his B.S in Sport Administration (1992) and his Master of Education (1994), both from the University of Louisville.
