FAMILIAR (AND UNFAMILIAR) FOES • Nashville is part of the re-aligned Central Division that features the Carolina Hurricanes, Chicago Blackhawks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, Detroit Red Wings, Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning. • The Predators have been divisional opponents with the Chicago Blackhawks since the team’s inaugural season in 1998-99. • Nashville and Dallas have been Central Division foes since the 2013-14 season. • Nashville and Detroit played in the same division from 1998-99 through the 2012-13 season. • The Preds and Blue Jackets were divisional opponents from 2000-01 through the 2012-13 campaign. • The Predators have never competed in the same division as Carolina, Florida or Tampa Bay until this season. QUICK HITS • The Predators acquired forward Luke Kunin from the Minnesota Wild in a trade on the second day of the 2020 NHL Draft on Oct. 7. Last season, he established career highs in games played (63), goals (15), assists (16) and points (31) and added in two goals in four postseason contests. • Nashville also signed forwards Nick Cousins and Brad Richardson in free agency over the offseason. • Nashville signed defenseman Mark Borowiecki to a two-year, $4 million contract on Oct. 9. He is coming off a 2019-20 campaign that saw him record career highs in goals (7), assists (11), points (18) and average time on ice (17:56) in 53 games with the Ottawa Senators. • That same day, the Preds signed blueliner Matt Benning to a two-year, $2 million contract. Benning tallied eight points (1g-7a) and recorded a +8 rating in 43 games with the Edmonton Oilers in 2019-20. • Head Coach John Hynes rounded out his coaching staff this offseason with the hires of Dan Hinote and Todd Richards as assistant coach.
